Vehicular Makeover Series Premieres in 1stQ 04
SILVER SPRING, Md., July 9 -- OVERHAULIN' revs the makeover-
genre engine with an automotive twist. In this new series on TLC, auto
designing legend Chip Foose leads a team of crack mechanics in transforming an
unsuspecting owner's bland or junky auto into a unique custom car. To
surprise the owner and get the job done in a week, OVERHAULIN' must resort to
some pretty tricky tactics to lure him or her to turn in the keys. Family
insiders join the scheme. A seven-part series, OVERHAULIN' is scheduled for
its world premiere on TLC in 1st Quarter 2004.
(Logo: NewsCom: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20030530/TLCLOGO )
In each episode, Chip Foose and his team watch the videotape of the car's
owner as he or she talks about the car and his or her dreams for it.
OVERHAULIN' finds a way to separate the owner from the car for up to a week --
whether via fake impound, a vacation away, buying the car, using the car for a
'photo shoot,' and more.
The car becomes the star when the OVERHAULIN' begins, as a knowledgeable
parts expert notes what's needed and viewers get to watch what the various
crews are doing: engine, body and metal, interior and more. With family
insiders' help, the host learns ways to personalize each car -- for example,
with a two-way radio, fire-engine-like design elements, etc. -- anything to
fulfill the driver's fantasies.
After the car gets its makeover, it is revealed and returned to its owner
in a fun and surprising way, whether at a car show, parked under a tarp in the
garage, on the street where they're taking that sudden vacation, etc. All
they have left is to get behind the wheel and zoom off into the sunset!
OVERHAULIN' is produced by Twilight Works for TLC; Bud Brutsman is
executive producer. For TLC, Sandra Gregory is executive producer.

My girlfriend has a 30 chrysler sitting in her garage and I keep telling her as soon as I finish my 36 ford 3 window i will get around to hot rodding her coupe. I would like you guys to act as a buyer to trick her into thinking i got rid of it as junk. Her chin would hit the floor if she were to get her car finished before mine. She just got a boob job and I keep telling her how great she will look driving around in my 3 window coupe when its done..Only it could be her 3 window Chrysler done and not mine...Bummer, but she deserves it big time. Well to start off my dad bought a car when he turned 16 and it was this exact 1971 Cougar. He sold it to start his own Air Conditioning Business about 25 years ago. He bought it back from the guy he sold it to about 19 years ago. Ever since then he has wanted to take it to his high school reunion. But he has been working 12-14 hour days with his business as it still grows. He has no time to work on his car that he has been wanting to drive for nearly 2 decades. Please help me get this car going for him. His high School reunion is coming up and I want him to finally be able to acheive his dream in driving his car to impress his old friends.
He always loved racing in his youth, he told me stories of beating those old 68 Camaros and t-birds. The Cougar was one mean machine, now it is just rotting away in our yard.
Some of the things he was able to do was get a free paint job for doing this guys Air Conditioning. The Paint is ugly and the guy didnt tape off anything. The engine did run when he parked it about 5 years ago so it might need a little love...PLEASE HELP!!

Overhaulin' is a cool show, except for the episode where the overhauled a Honda Civic.
I really liked this 1964 Corvette that they overhauled. The owner said she would go from party to party with six or seven girls in it back in college. It used to be her dad's car.

OverHaulin,
My fiancee watches your show whenever he is not working. My fiancee has a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis which he wants to fix but can't because he is the only one working in our house to support us and our daughter. The driver side window is being held up with electrical tape, the back passanger window does not go down. His car also has no ac and the paint is fading. I would love to surprise him and have his car fixed nwithout him knowing. He is extremely hard working and a great father. I hope you can help me out!!! Thank you.

Please help. My husband bought a 65 Ford Fairlane. His dream car. He spends every spare moment working on it. And I mean every spare moment. We don't have a lot of money to put into it, with three kids, so he takes old engine parts and tries to make them work. I feel bad for him, because he loves this, refridgorator white, car so much, but cannot afford to make this into the car he dreams of. He's a great man and fantastic husband, who deserves the car of his dreams.

How's it going fella's.I'm A real big fan of the show you guy's do an excellent job, better than new.I hate being or sounding selfish, because I love to see other's get blessed to me that's my joy.Ya'll really have a Big heart to bring such joy and excitement to many, plus the restoration of old school car's etc... that some would like to see off the street's,but they need to be seen. And your show need's to be reconized and appreciated .Anyhow this is my story...I'm 52 YEAR'S YOUNG a husband of 34 yr's to an awesome woman..we have been blessed with 3 children..all out of the house now,so we're home alone. We also have 4 grand-children the joy of our live's and God's favor on us.We have a modest income, just enough to get by,but we're very grateful.I drive a 1971 G.M.C. 1500 seirra grande...as my grand-children put it [a tuff truck] It's my only mean's of transportation [ when it's running ] and at this time it's not.I've struggled with this problem for several year's,but I believe I'm responsible for myself so I do what I have to do.At time's it's taking the bus ...2 hr's coming and 2 hr's going ,the bummer is that if I were driving it would take only 20 min's each way,.At other time's I'll ride my bicycle ,I don't mind the exercise, but I've almost been hit several time's,I don't wish this on anyone.I have just as much right to come back home to my family safely as anyone else.So if ..and if not I'll understand and still be a big fan of the show....PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY TUFF TRUCK.....May God continue to bless and prosper you....Dave in Austn Texas

Ok here's the deal..im not sure how to get on overhaulin' but im in desperate need to find out. My grandpa owns a 1967 chevelle and he has been wanting to fix it up since he was young. The color was a canary yellow and sounded sweet! He tried fixing it one day and he poked a hole in the block..ever since then it sits in the back yard rusted, with flat tires and torn interior. This car is in desperate need of LOTS of work and i know this is his dream to have it working before he passes. I believe and so does the rest of my family that my grandpa deserves this very much! He has always put everyone's needs before his own. My grandmother recieved her new kitchen because my grandfather used the money he saved up for the car to make her happy. And in this family money is VERY tight and i can't enfasize VERY anymore! He has also being like a father figure to me and my little sister. I am 18 now and i can honestly say he has raised me since i was small because my parents did not want to. He has the biggest most kindest heart anyone could have and i just want to see him happy and having something for himself for once. Please consider my grandpa and his chevelle for overhaulin'!!! thank you

My wife owns a 1973 Dodge Charger, it would be nice to see it go under operation and come out looking and running brand new, I think it would be a great late wedding gift to get her charger totally restored and running like a champ.... we just got married in October on the 25th and we share 7 children together... I would do the work myself, but I don't have the money or the time to do it.... please help me out here, in getting her smurfette restored!!!

I bought my wife a 73 javelin back in 1994 for her 35th birthday. Over the years I have put alot of money in it to referbish it. It still needs alot of body work and I can't find anyone to paint the costom perrire cardone strip that matches the seats and the rest of the interior.
I would like to have it done by her 5oth birthday. Nothing too wild, just regular stock, with an 8 track stereo. She is really into retro, and listens to 8 tracks and records. No modern electronics for her.
I think my project would be unique in the fact that I watch your program whenever I can, and have yet to see an AMC Javelin refurbished.
If this is possible, my wife would freakout. I own lots of other AMC's However this one belongs to my wife and is the only one she is crazy about. Even her e-mail address shows the love she has for this car. This is her baby, anything else is just a car.
Thankyou Overhauling, I love your show

overhaulin is the best show. we watch it all the time. my wife has a 69 firebird that would be perfect for the show...she has had this car for 17 years..it was the first car she bought. she has kept that car around her all the time. it is in storage now due to medical conditions she suffers from and is unable to finish restoring the car that she calls her baby...if there was anything in the world i would give her it would be for overhaulin to restore her baby...i think that what overhaulin does for people is great, keep up the good work.

Here is a great article I found at http://www.autoeng.org
Engine analyzers come in varying sizes:
:grinyes:
-Big box
-Hand-held
An engine analyzer should be considered one of the essential tools for any type of drive ability diagnostics, not just
intermittent. No other single piece of equipment can provide as much information about the basic function of the
engine. The engine analyzer of today is typically hand-held, versus the big box of yesterday. Although there are
some benefits to the hand-held such as portability; there are also draw backs, such as fewer features and smaller
screens. To overcome this drawback, many hand-held engine analyzers can now display directly on a PC monitor for
easier viewing and greater clarity.
Offer similar features:
-Starting and charging system tests
-Ignition system analysis
-Cylinder balance test
-Relative compression test
-Cylinder time variations
Big box or hand-held, most engine analyzers offer similar features that are helpful in diagnosing intermittent
problems. Since many drive ability related problems are still related to basics, the engine analyzer is a fast and
effective way to pin-point drive ability problems in a wide variety of areas.
Late Model Vehicles are complicated:
In the past, there were two common methods of dealing with intermittent problems. First, we could wait until the
intermittent problems becomes consistent or at least repeatable. Then we could apply standard diagnostic
techniques to solve the problem. Second, we could start at the front of the vehicle and begin changing parts until
either the problem goes away or, at the very least, becomes less of a problem. The first solution seldom works
because customers need there vehicles to be ready for the daily commutes, nor do they want to drive a vehicle with
a known problem waiting for it to break. The second solution is an even bigger problem, as the customer will end up
paying for parts that we most likely don't need. Or worse yet, the unneeded parts end up costing a customer way
too much money, therefore a good, knowledgeable auto repair shop is needed.

I definitely enjoy watching Overhaulin. Would've nominated my old 97 Volvo V70 XC for repair. I bet they could've done some pretty cool things with it but I recently sold it. Look forward to watching future episodes.

Grant me the Serenity to Accept the Things I cannot change, the Courage to Change the Things I can and the Wisdom to Know the Difference...
There's a saying in a group of Friends, that in order to keep what's been given to you, you've gotta give it to someone else and that's what I'm trying to do...
My husband, Jim Bailey, is a former college student from Century College graduating with dual diplomas in the fields of Prosthetics and Orthotics. In the process of going back and forth to school (5 hours away) visiting me and daughter, Megan, his Mazda truck died. We assumed the loan of a 92 Jimmy from a friend to which I drove up to get him back and forth ready for the junk yard, nickel-diming us to death and falling apart. In the meantime, his heart and soul for a Blue Chevy Pick-Up Truck just sits as it's been one thing after another in the way of getting her fixed up. While he finished school, bumps in the road almost pulled us apart. As I was coming off of being an IV user of Cocaine/Heroin & Meth, he stayed with me & daughter, Megan, through thick and thin, and married me in 2001. I can truly say, "I married MY Best Friend"!!!
Long story short, this man has sacrificed everything from continually working on projects around home (we were finally able to get out of the house-rent-rut through a friend) to helping friends & family, to selling his tools & tool box & motorcycle to keep us afloat, take care of my/our daughter in the 90's while I was in jail (I had her when I was 20, so he's been like her Father since she was 11), and to this day, still drive the 92 falling apart Jimmy without blinking an eye! He's the kind of guy who drops everything to go help ya, give his shirt off his back or give you his last dollar or coin. We've been pluggin' away since!
Today, we are proud Grandparents of two beautiful boys, in our later 40's, Recovering Alcoholics/Addicts...and so much more http://community.discovery.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<!--graemlin::)-->
My husband has 15 years of Sobriety in and me, almost 12! Choices in Sobriety, Freedom in Recovery!!! WhoooooHooooo!!! We dated as kids, went our separate ways, and were brought back together in `95 in a miracle!!!
Although we've been at the same jobs for years now, and know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, through our Recovery, it would mean the world to me to give back to a man who has given so much and see the look on his face when we surprise him with his 1971 Chevy Pick-Up truck Custom Camper Special fixed up Chip FOOSE Style!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That orange/black color scheme looks the bomb (in an episode I saw once) as we are also Motorcycle Enthusiasts teaching people how to ride Motorcycles Safer. Rider Coaching is also what we do come Summer time as Jim is the Site Admin. for our area, so you see? Busy, busy, busy....Sirs & M'ams; I don't care the color...Red/Black even...do what you want! Just, please, please help me surprise the best thing that's ever happened for us and that's having the most wonderful man in our lives surprised to beat the band!!!!!!!
Please help me, help him and show back the love and sacrifice he's done for Megan, me, and our Grandkids!
Please. Please pick me and have us on your OverHaulin' Show giving Jim his fixed up/blow your mind Dream Ride!!!
Thank You from Grand Forks, North Dakota and Thanks for Your Time!
