WTF???

I just saw the local news and saw this story where a drunk 17yr-old in a Buick killed two people minding their own business. The 17yr-old ran a red light.

I couldn't find pics yet, but the Tercel that the two victims were riding in was slammed against a light-pole and the car looked more like a motorcycle, it was so smashed.

The point of my title is, the fact that in any of these stories, it's ALWAYS the drunk that survives. Maybe if I'm drunk all the time, I'll live to 100:rolleyes:.

I hate people sometimes.

Here's the story:

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0712doublefatal13-ON.html

Don't be fooled by the chase part. The cop turned-off his lights and stayed very far behind the Buick because he was worried that what happened might happen.

The Buick was fleeing a hit-and-run that he also caused.

The officer turned-on his lights again when it was obvious that the 17yr-old wasn't going to stop...even for lights. The cop was doing it to warn other people.

That punk...

People like that give us teenage drivers bad names.

I honesty hope he gets the maximum penalty possible.

And I cant stand when the drunk lives and the other don't. That just happened near my house the other day. It's sad.

And those fuckers always just get a slap on the wrist:mad: Two years ago my dad was hit by a drunk driver with a suspended lisence and almost died. The sad part is my dad got a ticket for some reason and nothing is going to happen to the guy except his insurance has to pay but we have to take them to court because they are trying to blam it on my father.

the drunk proboly ususally lives because hes tho one that drives tthe front of his car into the side of the other car... theres allot more protection in teh front.

If he runs a red light and someone hits him on teh side they probobly saw him and had at least a small chance to hit the breaks.

no it's cuz the drunk usually doesn't see the accident coming and doesn't tense up. the other people try to brace themselves and end up breaking bones, which puncture organs.

Racer, I feel for you. Your case is stupid (meaning the fact that your dad gets punished for no reason and he is the victim). You should sue the Government and the suspect, in fact, kill em.

Drunk drivers should have their license shredded and never be allowed to drive again and tossed in the slammer if they do. The fuckers. If they kill someone because of it then string the bastard up and give him the piņata treatment with bats covered in razor blades :swear: I hope the little bastard is tried as an adult and is used as a fuck toy for a guy named Big Bubba! :swear:

Update:

Kinda grisly...

They interviewed the lucky lady who was in the car behind the car that was struck.

The passenger of the Tercel, a 20yr-old girl, was severed in half. One half of her body stayed in the car, the other half flew past this lady's car.

I'd love to see that 17yr-old locked-up in a room with that girls family:mad:   ...

I agree with you all...BUT, it'd be very easy for someone to say the exact same about people who streetrace...Like whoever said in that other thread about the street racing accident...And you ALL streetrace...So do I. I'm just saying...

It's sad to see those things happen. Maybe we need stiffer penalties? like these places have :)

Heres some other places penalties, this is from an article i recieved in my law class. Not sure how many are real (old article). But you might find it interesting.

- Drunk Drivers in El Salvador are executed by a firing squad on the first offense.

- Australia, names of offenders are printed in the local newspaper under the heading: "He's drunk and in jail."

- Bulgaria, the sentence for a second conviction is execution.

- Finland, Sweden and England, offenders recieve an automatic jail term of approximately one year.

- Malaya, drunk drivers go to jail. If they are married, their spouses are jailed too. :D

- Norway, any driver with more than .5 percent alcohol in his blood must serve time in a labour camp and loses his license.

- In South Africa, the penalty is 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

- In Turkey, drunk drivers are taken 20 miles from town and forced to walk back under police escort.

I was waiting for somebody to speak up about that.

It's all about judgement. A stupid judgement whether drunk or street-racing is still a stupid judgement, which should be punished. I have learned to survey my surroundings, and back-off when I even remotely feel it's unsafe. It's the morons who test beyond their's or their car's capabilities who make it bad for everybody. Let's put it this way: I'm 28, and have been street-racing since I was 14. Even when I was starting-out, I exercised judgement, since I had been taught the fundamentals of driving since I was 7. I have been in one accident that was considered my fault. This is because the truck in front of me had no brake lights. Other than that, I don't even have a speeding ticket.

Same thing with drinking. I feel it's unsafe PERIOD to drink and drive, so I just don't do it.

P.S.: As for the other guy I'm racing, I also pay attention to how they're driving. First-off, I won't even race if there's heavy traffic. Second, if I feel that they're taking unnecessary risks just to race me, then I'll back-off, even if they think they won.

Judgment and control. Control of your car and yourself...that's what driving is all about.

Thats close but actually what happens is that they are so relaxed that they dont react to the accident. The alcohol slows their reaction time. They then do not react to the oncoming car.

Sort of. What I was trying to say that they may actually see the accident coming but they may not react to the oncoming car.
