if theyre 17" motegi mr7, theyre either 7 or 7.5 wide, so I would personally go with a 205/40/17 or a 215/40/17. Its really up to you, taste and all, but yeah, those are really what most people get for that size rim

a 215/40/17 is going to be a big tire. 205/40/17s are even a little bigger than stock diameter, so your gearing will be affected, but even moreso with the 215/40s

looks? you should buy a tire for grip and ride quality... anyway.. those are excelent low end tires.. but if 1010tires.com is in the USA.. it will kill you on shipping.. unless they are super cheap.. like 50 USD each... try
www.driverfx.ca
or go to a tire shop in town

if the total wheel/tire diameter is changed, won't the speedometer be wrong too?

Theres a nice little program here that calculates wheel/tyre diameters so that you can compare gearing changes asn speedo changes (as a % that they will be out).

..dont get 40 series tire on a 16" wheel...your wheels are gonna look small as hell and have a crap ride...def. get 205/45/16s... they'll look so much better.. you'll thank me ;)

if you want acceleration, get the smallest diameter tire you can find. that will shorten your gears, essentially making a DX tranny into an Si and so forth.

so what number is the tire diameter then....in the xxx/xx/xx?

none of the numbers are the outside diameter.... the first is the width...the second is the sidwall height (a ratio of the width I believe)..and the third the inside diameter..
