Dear people,
I own a 1997 Renault megane. Since recently I have a problem where in if I push on the accelerator pedal while in the 4th gear, the car jerks for a moment (or two) and then starts to accelerate as normal (these are mostly cirumstances where I should have switched to a lower gear, but didn't). Off late, I see the problem more frequently. Is this what is called as "Clutch slipping"? Or what else could it be ?. Can somebody tell me?

Most cars will do that if you have them in too high a gear for you speed. It's just drivetrain vibration. You should avoid it by using lower gears when you're going slower. The biggest potential for damage is probably to your journal bearings, which are seeing low-speed, high-load conditions in the situation you describe.

clutch slipping would be when your in 4th gear and you go to floor it and your engine revs but you dont accelerate right away there will be a pause then youll hear the engine die back down and youll accelerate :ylsuper:
