HELP! Crushed Evo VI

I wrote about this kit in one of my first posts here, it was a bad experience with Sanxler on eBay. I'm sure some of you are familiar with this paper-wrapping, overseas-shipping, car-crushing phenom from the Far East :comprage1 . Anyway, I want to fix this kit if possible. I searched the forum for help and couldn't find any real detail on this topic. Any tips and tricks?

Man, that's terrible. I've had problems like this when purchasing through ebay but never that bad. You can try dipping it in hot water and try to bend it back to shape, I usually use this technique but only for minor bends I'm not sure whether it will work with your model kit. I hope this helps.

I've had the same problems with Sanxler.
My models weren't as badly crushed as yours though.
My solution was to leave the body in a bucket of very hot water for some time. The plastic becomes a bit more flexible that way, so you can reshape it.
It's a challenge, but seeing your model I'd say you should buy a new one. It's very hard to get this one in good shape to fit the windows properly.

Put it on a coke can or something that supports only the roof. Then go outside and put it in your car on a hot, sunny day. The enormous heat in your car will slightly melt the plastic, and the weight will straighten it out. Never had a car smashed that bad, but that technique works around these parts.

Hey, that's a good idea! Take a soldering iron and bend some of the parts more... you could get ideas from Armor makers here. Anybody out there kind enough to help this guy? :icesangel

Chop the roof off and turn it into an EVO speedster:biggrin:

use the coke can idea, but instead of putting it outside, use a blow dryer to heat it up then just bend back to shape. The speedster idea is cool to.

So far this seems to be the coolest idea. And the crash diorama was one option I was considering before since I also have a WRX STi Version IV from the same shipment.

:iagree: it's not right but, I'm long over the :angryfire
It was a while back and I've always had so many other models to choose from. Anyway, I'm doing a few sketches and Photshops on how these would look as speedsters.

Hey!!!
Since you have both the WRX and the EVO,
Y not make a diorama of the evo knocking into the wrx and a very bad racing accident??

Seems like a little time spent with hot water did help. Just a little more time needed to straighten the A pillar a bit more. I'll have to make reinforcements since that driver side pillar snapped at the top.

well im glad to see youve gotten this far... i was going to suggest cutting off the a pillars completely since they were the worst of and use some styrene sheet or strip to remake the pillars. if the windshield and side windows are one piece trying getting the a pillars back in shape by using the glass piece as a mold. temporarily tack the glass in the body so you can see deformities better. when you finally intsall glass permenantly if an of the pillars are bowed out try to careful glue them flush to the glass. this is tedious but will save your body!

whoa thats pretty bad. But it seems like you are recovering just fine.
After 9 months of arguing and complaining, the same guy Sanxler disguised as his new eBay name heiheihei finally sent two models to me. I put some thought into what I asked him to send because I knew that if it were a Fujimi model, it would be A LOT harder to find replacement parts if anything should break. I asked him to send a Nissan Z and R34 Skyline both Tamiya's. Luckily both arrived with minor damage to the box only, and the parts were in good condition. I still wouldn't recommend ordering from this guy, but if you already ordered from him and he hasn't sent you anything...I recommend complaining your ass off! :bigthumb:

I'm in the process of using the windsheild as a mold like you said. I figured this would be the surest way of straightening it back to original, or better. The glass is a complete piece, however I'll have to remove the driver and passenger window and make this an open window model. The driver side is cracked and separated at the B-pillar. The jagged edge goes right into the top corner of that window, so I''l be using the scribe and exacto to slice that off straight.

im glad i could help. if you need to replace any pillars you can use strip styrene. it comes in many widths and thicknesses which should be close to the original pillar. just cut to length and use a scribe or razor along with a straight edge to make the molding lines and then glue inplace. i also used to order from ebay all the time and have had to do this myself on occasion. (see Verminator... this is just the beginning of the weath b@$ch) sorry subyfanatic this is not about you but i just got on this board yesterday and Ive already been challanged.
