power window problems

I have a 2000 Malibu and the driver's window will go down but not up. I thought it was the motor so I replaced it. Same problem. When I looked at the motor. the gear will turn only one way. It does the same thing with both motors. Does this sound line the switch assembly. I'd like some input before I buy something else I don't need.

Sounds like a switch. Can you swap switches with the one that operates the passenger side window and try it?
