Meh
It was fun. But once I read the book I realised what a disappointment the movie was,and how much cooler it would've been if they stuck more to the book.

And yet, so far behind it's time in PLOT and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT...
Read the book long before the movie came out, and so obviously, I was not impressed...
Looked like "saved by the bell" in outer space.

I havnt yet read the book, but Iv read all of Heinliens adult series of books, and all of his short storys.
After seeing the movie it only has a very passing resemblance to a proper Heinlien story, its certianly not nearly out there enough, altough the uni-sex shower scene is a hint at the sort of society he generaly creates in his storys.
starship troopers was part of his "young adults" sci fi books, and I did buy a 2nd hand copy the other day, but only because Iv seen the movie, Iv yet to read it, but from reading another one of his they seem generaly rather tame, and over simplified for me in comparison with his full length novels.

i mean confusing as in why did the bugs shoot asteroids out their ass? wouldn't that hurt? they should really get sum metamucil.

They didn't shoot asteroids. They shot "bug plasma" and used that to push an asteroid towards earth.

At the time I thought it was a cool movie, I was young still though. I have since watched it and its utter crap. So much more could have been done with that movie...

I read the book............soooooooooooooooo much better than the movie, but that was because it was also a lot longer. If they had made more of the training aspect of the into the movie it would have been a lot better since they tell about "jump jet" equppied units that you never see in the move. Bah.

Series rocked - book was awesome - the movie sucked big time. Puppet masters was a better Heinlein adaptation
