i have a 97 jetta vr6,...2 years ago i installed a autotech q-chip and a k&n air filter,..10 months ago i put in a abd big bore...when the big bore was installed the egr valve had to replaced, it was cracked and oil was leaking out,,,two months ago the engine light came on, it happened after a big rain storm we had, the passenger side headlight filled up with water and the bulb exploded, i thought may-be it was a short???then i noticed water in the air-box, took it apart and cleaned everything and dried it out. still the engine light is on...i picked up a ross-tech vag-com this week and found fault code....P0411 - 16795- Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected.....
the car has 102431 miles on it. is the line into the manifold clogged? any help would be appreciated

Had the same problem with a 98 jetta vr6. If you haven't already, w/ 102 plus miles, replace all the vacuum hose you can reach and at least as far as the air pump solnoid. Once I tighten up the vac, hose and had auto zone clear the code, the problem hasn' t been back.

Secondary Air Intake is an UNIMPORTANT component of the system.
The reason it's even there, is to compensate for the higher emissions
during a cold start. As a matter of fact, after 90 seconds (when the car
comes out of open loop after cold start), the thing shuts off until the
next 'cold' start.

The Secondary Air Intake function is basically a cheat to pass DOT
regulations for import into North America. It doesn't actually reduce
emissions, it steals fresh air from a 'loophole' (in the DOT rules) point
in the engine and dumps it into the exhaust to 'change the ratio',
and be within regulations. Smart Germans, stupid DOT!

Your car will function fine without it working. It won't even register on
emissions tests, because they are supposed to be done with the engine
warm. (ie: AFTER 90 seconds - (open loop)) So unless the Check Engine
light really bothers you, or you got tons of cash, just don't worry about it!!!
(If you have to replace the pump it's MANY hundreds of dollars!!!)
