Actuator Problem = Low low Boost

Hey dudes
A while back a posted a message about problems I was having with my boost after I got my exhaust done (3" system from dump pipe). It seemed that after I got my exhaust my boost dropped to about 5-6psi ???
Anyway it turns out that the actuator was the problem, we found this out while installing a turbosmart boost controller.
We installed it and it seemed to have no effect? At first we thought it could have been the controller ... but no it wasn't that at all.
We investigated and found that the actuator arm had been stuck open (not sure how that happened - it just did). Anyway to fix we had to remove the piping to the actuator, and force some shots of air down it (with a high power air compressor) to free it up.
Anyway after that and putting it back together it was all good.
We set the boost to 10psi and the R33 absolutely rocks ! Sweeeet.
Anyway I thought id let you guys know just in case you find yourselves in the same position.
Ajay
BTW????
Sometimes I hear little popping noises from the exhaust - what is this ? Is it bad ?

Good to hear you got it sorted mate.
So what kind of gain did you get from upping boost to 10psi???
I am getting a turbosmart controller soon too and just want to know what sort of a gain it will make???
Also with the popping sound that is normal (so i am told)
I have a 4inch HKS exhaust and at every change or when i let the accelerator out it makes a small popping sound. I think its backfiring, but its not bad for it. It usually results from cars that are running a bit rich and with a bigger exhaust.

Hey Ethan
I got a very noticable difference when running 10psi. The turbosmart controller on my car gives a very smooth power distribution, it comes on very early and I do not notice any lag at all.
If you are running standard boost and go to 10psi then I think you to will notice a huge difference.
The dial is also very easy to adjust if you want to put it up or down.
I have heard 10psi is safe to run on the factory turbo.
