hey guys, guess what, im getting a DET for $550 USD. :D im just going to take my brothers 200sx and swap it in there. dont worry though ill still be here, ill get my P11 later on in life when i get money
Geo or Luke: what should i check/replace/do when i get it? im going to be there when they compression test it. what kind of suspension set up would be good for such a light car with power? anything else i should know about it? how often should i change oil and what oil should i use? do i have to balance the car somehow? im worried that since the car is so light and if i floor it, i will lose control. the guy said i should just use the japanese ECU that comes with the DET cause i have the GA16DE engine and it will re-adjust itself to fit MPH, is that true?
oh ya, it has a blown head gasket, if i just replace it, it will still be ok right? just another $200 for replacing it.

oh ya, this is off topic but, what is the 200SX over seas? cause the 200SX over in europe and asia is the 240SX here in america.

550? How'd you come to that deal? I thought the 200SX was strictly a USDM car. Overseas, there's a 180SX, 280SX, 300ZX, Sylvia, Skyline. maybe I'm wrong, but I don't ever remember reading about, or seeing in any magazine, a JDM version of our 200SX

ya im not sure if there is a 200SX overseas. im just asking if anyone knew. i originally went to the shop to check out my friends J-spec mr2 turbo engine and he had DETs so i asked him cheapest price. and he told me $700 for the one with the blown head gasket, but since were buying both are engines from him, he took off $150. :D

that's a pretty good deal. Do they come with Tranny? or are you using the 200 tranny?

Damn, what a deal. Now, all you need is a downpipe, and a big fat exhaust.

since you have a GA motor in the B14, you'll need to get a tranny or it wont bolt up. i would replace all the belts, hoses and change the water pump. courtesy sells a kit that includes new timing chaing and water pump for aorund $200...i would get that. since the motor you have has a blown head gasket...you want to open up the head to see what else is bad...most likely, at that price, lots of stuff is probably bad sad to say :(
why buy somehting that's already bad??

ya i was thinking about that, and probably just get a good one instead of that. its just the price that lured me to it :p it comes with the tranny, engine, and ecu.

u cant use the tranny anyway cuz it's a 4wd...forget about the deal man, ure not gonna be able to make that blown motor run unless u spend a ton of money rebuilding it. get the right parts and do it right.

i talked to him about the tranny and he said its possible to just use the stock one. they just have to block off the rear axle. they said its been done too. ill ask if he has any spare harnesses and ecu and ill get back to you. im getting the BB ecu and using that.
