ignition chimes

I would like to disable, or decrease the volume of the ignition chime on my 2000 chevrolet silverado,with out effecting any thing else... is there a way??? thank you, Ralph

Open the plastic pieces right behind your steering wheel.There are 2 torx screws underneath the bottom. Then it clips apart. You wont be able to take it all the way apart unless you take off the main dash piece.
Anyway, Open it up far enough on the ignition switch side to see the wires running to the ignition switch. Cut the green one and it will disable the key in door open chime. The rest of the chimes such as headlights on reminder will still work.

You got to be kidding?
Cut a wire??? I wouldn't take that advice, live with the Chime the way it is. On my 2003, you can adjust the loudness of the Chime by pressing the #6 button on the radio while the radio is off.
