us vs. jdm headers

what would be the best header to have. stock(jdm), dc 4-2-1(us or jdm)? i dont care about the weight difference, i just want the one that will produce the most power. a friend of mine told me the jdm header has a bigger collector, but i havent seen any places to get one from. the itr's are all over ebay, but i cant find any for the h22.

i wouldn't even bother with jdm header. i would look into the greddy header or kamikaze if you want a good header. DC is ok.

is the kamikaze the 4-1 with the fat downpipe?
btw, are those carb legal? i already got the dc header, jic. ive already been cited for illegal parts back when i had some fakeass ebay intake/header, so with all the new stuff i want to do it legally. cops around here are real sticklers... especially around the end of the month.

I think you're talking about the JDM Type S header. It's not CARB legal (no EO number) but I think it bolts on and looks so much like the stock US one, stock heat shield and all, that it would take someone really sharp to spot the difference. I've seen them advertised in the $600 range. My DC stainless cost $400. I don't think you'd see much performance difference unless you also added Type S Cams, Valve Springs, Throttle Body and High Compression pistons. Then smog test time would be pretty tense! So, unless you're goihg for a stock under hood appearance the DC (or another brand with an EO #) probably is your best bet.

yea i guess im gonna stick with the dc header. i dont care about a stock apperance, but if i get pulled, i want carb#'s for everything you can see. in a couple months i will be getting a full skunk setup, except for the intake manifold... since one isnt out yet. i know someone that will smog my car for me, so im not really worried about that.

Hey man, just wanted to share some issues that I''m having with my header set-up.
Wehn we bought the DC's and took off the JDM stock ones, it was notice the bore or diameter if you will, was largely different between the two. I was skeptical putting the DC's on there as the bore was so small. Well we went ahead put em on, and the car actually runs slower than it used to with the J-spec, were talking a half second slower.
I'm actually getting ready to put the JDM one back on and sell the DC's..
If you do install the DC keep in mind you will have to have the end of the down pipe either cut and welded to the cat or have a new flange welded on, as the Prelude used the 3 bolt triangle flange and the Accord used the 2 bolt diamond. Just something to keep in mind. I paid $90 bucks to have mine done, now I have to pay to get it undone.
Just my 2 cents!!
Peace

damn, thats not good. thanks for letting me know. did you have a type-s jdm header, or it was just the stock one that all h22's use? is the stock us/jdm header different from eachother? i dont see why dc would make a header that actually hurts performance.
btw, i did notice when i looked at the header, that the openings did look kinda small.

I have the stock JDM, no type S or anything.. I think there is a difference between USDM and JDM though, I just need to find someone willing to dissasemble there USDM stock header to prove this theory.
I rememeber seeing somewhere on the net that DC actually made a JDM version as well, but for the life of me I can't find the page, they actually sold them too.
I just got picked up for a sponsorship with DC Sports and should be talking to my Point of Contact this upcoming week, so I will see what the dealeo is and let you know!

do you have any pics of the jdm header compared to the dc? ive been looking all around online and i cant find any pics of a jdm header.
ive heard of dc jdm headers, but theyre not carb exempt. i friend of mine said he can get me the jdm header for $400, and now im considering it. and im thinking about keeping the usdm header so i can take off the piece of metal that has the eo# and have it welded onto the jdm header.

go to ardperformance.com and click at the top of the screen where it says ARD online store then on the left side of the screen click JDM parts. and then click JDM engine/misc scroll down right near the bottom.
they also have the header at http://www.import-store.com/ same thing just click on JDM parts. but i dunno if id trust this site.
also. if you can answer me this question cuz no one else could.. why is there 2 parts to the JDM type s intake manifold? (its on ard site as well just alittle higher up on the page.)
