Good first car?

I'm not really sure what to get for my 1st car. I'm looking for something that's not FWD, and moderately fast, or able to be tuned to be moderately fast. So far, I've looked at RX-7s, 240SXs, and a WRX. I'm being really undecisive, so if anyone could help me choose, that'd be nice. My price range is at the most roughly 20-25k or so. Thanks.

If this car you are getting has to last you for awhile, then you'd do fine in buying a new WRX. If its something that you want to tool around for a couple years before replacing it. Then a used car would fit the bill. The RX-7 should be a lot less then you're current price range and that can leave you a good chunk of money to mod it up some or enough money to put away for other purchases.

I wouldn't get hung up on the car being a FWD or RWD. So, not looking at that, other cars you may want to look at (new) Acura RSX TYPE S, Mazda6, Nissan 350Z (the "low end model" it as the top of your budget) and the Volkswagen GTI VR6

My friend just bought a 1992 Sentra Se-R for $3000. Pretty damn good deal cause its surprisingly fast and tons of fun to drive. Low miles too. I'd say if you want fairly cheap, fairly relaiable, and also fun to drive, stick to 1990's Japanese cars. European cars like BMW's, audi's can be had to cheap too, but man, my car is expensive to upkeep. American cars never seem to offer the same amount of reliability and performance as the Japanese cars. Nissan, Honda, mitsubishi even.

You can get a nice mid to late 90's BMW for that price range. Thats what I would look for a nice 3 series 2-door or even an older M3.
