What does a B16B put down at the wheels?

Has anybody dynoed their ctr engine? Post some dyno charts or let me know how the curve looks and what you maxed out at... thanks.

they should be putting roughly around 155-160hp to the wheels.

What can I do to minimize the loss from flywheel to ground? I'll have an intake and exhaust on her when she's in which probably adds 10hp tops. The ctr header is just as wide, if not wider, than most aftermarket ones so I don't see the need to upgrade that.

you'll need to improve your tranny as well as your motor to see bigger gains hit the street.

That's a given, "improve your motor for more horsepower" but I'm saying how can I take my same amount of horsepower and put it to the asphalt? Or am I just stuck with it because there will always be a transmission and moving parts in between engine and wheels...

Sorry to say but drivetrain loss is inevitable.

hey, what years your hatch? I wanted a B16B so bad for a while, but then for the cost I just ended up going a different route(which I never finished tho)

how long have you had it, what kinda cars can you stomp on now?

sorry, yea you will never be able to get the same HP to the ground as your motor makes at the flywheel.

I wish I had a 92-95 hatch, which are the best looking civics ever in my opinion. So many more parts available for them... oh well in another few years somebody will be saying that about my car because it's older.

I've had it in for -2 days now
It goes in Saturday and it will be able to run mid 14's in the quarter with my intake/exaust. Arguably (as in hundreds of other posts) I'll be able to beat new 2000+ mustang gt's by a little bit. The fastest I'VE ever seen one get in the 1/4 (stock) was a 15.0

Ill sell you mine, then you can just swap in the engine and go.

hate to bust your bubble but i dont think you will be hitting 14's with your car after the swap. TRUST ME people who tell you there hatch runs 14's with a gsr swap and 13's with a type r swap are the biggest bullshitters in the world. last time i went to LACR there was a guy i met who goes and puts down at least 20 runs a week. he has an EG hatch with a gsr engine. this engine is in perfect condition. he dynoed it at 153hp to the wheels stock so you know its a good engine. he runs low 15's with that setup and he hits almost perfect .5 reaction times every time. the b16b is nice but dont overestimate it. youll end up as disappionted as i was the last time i went to the track. i thought i would hit 13's with my setup. man was i wrong.

dont listenm to edman, he lives wheree its like 120 degrees or something, but a month ago I was at the track and I saw a 5th gen hatch/6th gen headlight swap with a B18C1 with bolt ons and ran a 14.2 on 16" rims. he said he hit 14 fla and 14.1 with the stock litttle 14's.

I cant prove the 14 flat, but I SAW the 14.2 and there was also a white 6th gen civic EX coupe with 17's, and a big guy driving. but he had an ITR swap with bolt ons and he was hittin 14.1's

2000 DX hatch - 2388
1996 EX coupe - 2483

so I believe a good driver with a nice running B18C5 in a hatch can hit 13's especially if it was in my 2108 pound 94 CX hatch.

2483-2108= about 375 pounds, so if you get a 14.1 then drop 375 youd hit about a 13.8-13.9 at least.

Actually the hatches w/ full interior weigh in at 2360. We just weighed my girls 99 hatch. My coupe weighs 2420. Not much of a weight difference but hey, anythings possible but I doubt the 13 sec idea.

yes actually i was talking about the track at palmdale where it is like 100 degrees. sorry not all of us live in the wonderful rainy weather of washington state. im telling you what i saw with my own eyes. a 94 cx with a perfect b18c1 hitting 15.2 with an expert driver. before you go around telling people not to listen to me get some more info on the subject. im not the kind of guy who talks out of my ass to look smart.
when i SEE a hatch with a gsr swap hit 14's ill let you know, in the meantime ill believe what i know has happened.

im not saying you're dumb or anything edman, but a 15.2 at palmdale IS pretty much a 14 second run at sea level w/ cooler weather. i know it doesnt say so on the timeslip, and in this situation timeslips are everything, but yea. i'm pretty sure his hatch can run 14 second...if not, then o well. bring in the mods.....:bigthumb:

and im sure youre right tenzo because thats what i was told. but 94teg comes on telling people not to listen to me when he has no idea what i was talking about. that i did not appreciate. thanks for trying to clear things up.

sorry I didnt word it correctly, I meant dont listen to you but Im guessing you live where its hot and then you are right about no 13s with a ITR.

BUT it wasnt cold rainy weather that day, it was pretty warm, I was sweatin just standing next to the car. had to be bout 80 or so. (I know im a wimp, Ive lived in WA for too long, 90 used to not bother me down in CA)

i love moments like these when we just all get along. sniff :bigthumb: but in all seriousness, u gotta give the man props for getting a b16b. i know a lot of people wouldnt go for that motor just cuz it costs too much for wat u get. anyways speaking of hot weather.
i went to a shop in valencia where they were doing some dyno tuning and the weather was INCREDIBLY hot. it was about 101 degrees IN THE SHADE. but some of those cars were still throwin out massive numbers. 350 rwhp and ft/lbs of torque in a porsche 944 turbo. oh lordy that was sexy.......

its cool 94teg. i lived in washington for 6 years and i know what you are talking about. but even when its 80 over there the air is much denser then it is here. the air in the desert here is so thin its hard to breathe. im sure i would have had much better times in better weather too but hey what can you do, california is gay.

I hear ctr's respond better to mods over the sohc's; what will an intake and exhaust add to this beast? Maybe 10whp?
