i see no reason to buy it....alreaady hall everthing that's on it.....to much on it anyways
i also wouldn't buy it as a PS2 replacement
When playing games, you'll plug your controllers into the rear of the PSX console, where the hard drive and Sony Memory Stick compatibility have clearly rendered the standard PS2 memory cards obsolete.

It's meant mostly as a way to compile all of the various gadgets into one easy to use box, essentially a PS2 with TiVo, cd burning capabilities, and a hard drive. For someone who dosen't have a couple of the various gadgets, it'd be a great purchase, but if you already have 2 or 3 of them, just go buy the new toy, it'll take up more space, but it'll be cheaper, and if any one component breaks, you don't have to lose your entire media center to get it fixed.
Also, the next "real" console, PS3, is slated to be released in 2006, along with Nintendo and Microsoft's new consoles. Sony is also releasing a handheld system in the near future.

The PSX is an odd move for Sony. They seem to be doing what Microsoft has been talking about. The problem is it is still the old PS2 inside. Why anyone would buy a PSX is beyond me. As already mentioned in this thread, many people already own the devices featured in the PSX. If these features come onthe PS3, it might be cool. I would still prefer a straight forward console that plays DVDs, then a multimedia device like the PSX. Everyone should save their money for the 2006 X-box 2 and PS3 roll outs.

I guess you could say the PSX is one and two, it can play games for both systems. Usually that would be called "backwards compatable." Kind of like the GBA SP. It can play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.
The next game system to buy from Sony will not be the PSX, but the PSP or Playstation Portable. I really enjoy my GBA SP, but I have faith Sony will not enter the portable game market with a weak system. If a price war breaks out, any gamer should buy a GBA SP if it drops to $50. I have had my GBA SP for 3 months and I am pleased with it. The lack of a headphone jack is the only downside. If you ever played games on the SNES or Saturn. then you will love the GBA SP. The Puzzle Fighter 2 is a perfect translation of the game found on the Saturn and PS One.
PSX is something very few people will find value in. The PSP maybe the next big thing.

One thing to be aware of with the PSX and backwards compatibility, is that it does not support the memory cards any longer. It will instead be using a memory stick, and at this time, I haven't heard anything on the ability to transfer data between the two. I don't know if PSone games will be able to use the sticks or not, but I will try to find out for you all.

I think we have done the X-box versus PS2 thing to death in other threads. Let us not start this again until aroudn Christmas time. Then it might be worth reviewing the two systems again. I own all the current consoles and think they are all a blast to play.
The best thing about the current console wars is game prices keep dropping. I bought some brand new X-box games for $7.50 and a some new PS2 games for $9. That is really cheap and the games are not bad.
