hey, picked this up a couple days ago... so far ive almost completed the engine and interior. This car is going to be painted Camel Yellow (tamiya) with black rims (undecided). I think it will have the body kit, but im not positive.... This has been my CLEANEST attempt to a detailed engine! Anywyas, heres some pictures....

Engine includes, scratch built fuel rail, and camgears, and will soon include Aem cold air intake..

Nice work on the engine, looks really nice and clean.

Some plug wires and I think a person could mistake it for a real one in a photo

lookin good man, if you need any reference pics at all or any help with detailing just hit me up. I have the JDM version of the B16 in my coupe so I can give you all kinds of help if needed. Very clean build so far, the distributor, plug wires, Vtec solinoid, lower radiator hose and intake manifold are the things that need the most attention to pull of the realism with this motor. :bigthumb:

worked a lot today, almost completely finishing interior, and adding cold air intake ( just resting, no glue yet)

I added new seats and there will be nitrous oxide under the passengers seat

Thats a great idea, putting the Nitrous under the seats. How are you gonna fit them under there though?

I would keep it fairly simple , and go for the greddy RX7 rims, that seem to fill the arches just right .

well heres an idea for you...
with a little work you can have rim that no one else has... (wel expect me and some of my close friends)
but anyways with like 15 minutes of work on all 4 you can trim off really thin plastic off the inside of the wheel well..
making the rim look bigger..
if you get what im saying....
if not here a pic

07-16-2003, 01:11 PM
ok.. back with more pics...

Interior is closely meeting completion... I added a gauge (SHITTY) , and there will be a apexi v-tec controller

the body is primed, (tamiya primer white), and will be painted either today , or maybe tomorw because the weather sucks..

anyhow!! HERE R SOME MORE PICS

ps. I decided to use the Black itr rims!

keep it up man, looking good. I will post more pics of my motor in my HB soon so you can reference those for some detail ideas. The only thing I really see wrong is your fuel rail needs to closer to the head, it is not inthe middle of the intake man. other than that your doing great.

Integra14
07-16-2003, 01:26 PM
aight.. i have a question....

for Nitrous OXide , doesn't htere need to be something near the engine that releases the nitrous, or does it just run from the tank, right into the intake manifold...

IM MISSING SOMETHING THERE!!!, like a line, or a solenoid, or some thing!

applied CF to hood, and almost finished the valve cover(recently painted, not dry!)

any tips for cf?

i still ahve osme wrinkles and a few tiny bubbles!! ... meh.. its ook.. my first try

bah humbug
07-18-2003, 05:32 PM
Integra 14 if you have microsol I think you should brush a little on and maybe prick the bubble with a sharp fine object.

I bookmarked a good thread about microsol and microset but I'm using a different computer at the moment.

man i would say u go out and buy some xs tuning rims to put on this hatch cuz it would make the car look way better then the black wheels. To me this hatch is looking like a show car. WEll keep up the good progress and hope to see u fix the cf problem

Integra14
07-21-2003, 11:49 AM
not rreally a show car.....

hers the rims just placed in... not glued

and the whole body is not set right.. seeee its a monster truck right now!

my hood also has this
i simply fixed buy...
buying some decal set (testors)

put a tea pot w/ h2o to boil (just stay w/ me)

while apply the decal set to the hood very wet ( specially over the wrinkles)

hover the hood over the steam of the tea pot this WILL make the decal straighten out and it WILL confrom 2 the hood

it worked for me

oh dont forget to turn off the range/ stove

Integra14
07-22-2003, 07:19 PM
can i do that now, that its dry???? or maybe i should just take off the decal and just have a black hood?

rmg313
07-22-2003, 07:52 PM
yes
just remember to lay the decal set very very wet

dag65
07-22-2003, 08:05 PM
I am pretty sure I mentioned using the microsol setting solutions on your thread last week. It works and you won't get the bubbles .
There are 2 types, one for highly irregular surfaces and the regular.
I put it on before I put the decal in H2O and then again after. It makes the decal more flexible. Now apply it to the hood and use a very soft brush to work out all the air bubbles and smooth it out, pushiing all hte liquid to the edges. Now take a hair dryer and start drying it, this sucks the decal down. Still not right? Reapply the setting solution and repeat until smooth. It really worth the few bucks and it really works, check out the pic, I used SMS decals and microsol on the intake and vavle covers and it came out real smooth.

rmg313
07-22-2003, 08:38 PM
dag65- that idea is just as good if fact better but the high dryer does just that dry it this is better for applying a fresh NEW decal

in integra 14's case he/she needs the steam to loosen, wet and smooth the wrinkles:wink:

Integra14
07-22-2003, 08:52 PM
its a he...

ok but will the decal lose its gluyiness (stickiness) if i wet it , steam it and flatten it?

rmg313
07-22-2003, 09:14 PM
nope

Integra14
07-23-2003, 11:26 AM
im gonna try to straighten the cf today, but in the meantime, heres some pics of it Waxed compounded, polished... pretty good.... my presonal best

anwyas i also startd the panel lines, but im not sure HOW much i should do, Down to every body line, or just doors, and where bumpers meet?

IMO you should do them all now, yeah.
Good job so far!

dag65
07-23-2003, 01:22 PM
YEah I agrre that my procees is bast with a fresh decal, the steam method may in fact soften it and alow you to smooth it. If that doesn't work you might try starting over.
Its looking good, the CF will look great with the yellow.

Looks good, but why is it orange now??????????

do not put panel lines on those things you circles, those in real life are not as noticeable as the door.

rmg313
07-23-2003, 07:33 PM
i take it you didnt fix the wrinkle problem:frown:

try it again that decal is strong enough for another shot

Integra14
07-23-2003, 08:18 PM
ya i couldn't fix it

waht i did was:

Brushed on Micro Set to loosen decals, then i boiled water and steamed the decal, but the Wrinkles had Nowhere to go, u know awht i mean?

can i cut the wrinkles?

rmg313
07-26-2003, 04:50 PM
you could cut the wrinkles if ur hand is steady enought

and if you have a extremly sharp knife

i would keep at it and loosen the entire decal then try it again

trust me it can be a bi*** but it is well worth it

blueboost
07-26-2003, 06:04 PM
1st IMO order some SAS carbon fiber decals, cause either way your going to want some more carbon fiber, + you won't be so worried about messing up the decal you have if you have more on the way, ++ the decal itself looks better and may be easier to apply. I did a hood much harder than the civics and with a little decal softener from model master, it did come out. this is not an easy feat as you are well aware of. my suggestion is to always paint the hood in case you just can't get the carbon fiber hood right. take a wet washcloth and use it to squee gee the lines out of the hood. press and smooth out the air and lines from the center on out to the edges. If you apply yourself I know you can do it.

anyone that can get a finish that good on a model can do a carbon fiber hood no problem. :werd: finish the other parts of the model, take a break from the hood, and go back to it when your refreshed.

your model is stunning, excellent work my friend!

Integra14
07-27-2003, 01:46 PM
maybe i will order some cf, im not sure, chris if u read this, or anyone that uses it... HOW durable is it, cause i tried another cf, and it just cracked and ripped every time i even touched it... the REvell cf was rpetty good, but i just couldn't get it right!!!

anywyas, heres some more progress..... body lines are almost done, and window frames will eb painted either tonight, or tmw sometime

progress will then be halted for 1 week because im goin out town , anyways.. here r some more pics to keep interest
