What does rice mean??

Hi, im new to this, what do you people mean when you call a car rice?

Theres many things that can be considered rice, for instance having light up pedals that they sell at pepboys or having a huge spoiler on a car that is not even close to being a sleeper. Just all out done wrong. As long as the cars clean and done right you have nothing to worry about. Another example is like when someone puts a huge honda H symbol on there nissian lol.

I think my favorites are the Saturn with "SATURN" on the back and "NRUTAS" on the windshield and the expose on the "VTEC" Prelude:cool:

I personally believe rice is the typical, cheap way, to make your car look better...not always cheap, but you get my drift. An example, is putting decals all over your car, because you can't afford anything else...don't laugh, I've personally known people who did this.

-coffee can exhaust tips
-Excessive decals...
-Cars that you hear from a mile away..but you wish would stay a mile away..(LOUD toyota corolla's....stock honda civics with an exhaust tip...)..etc. I think it just depends on the car. Watch the fast and the furious, and I think you have your definition of rice, however. Although I must admit, I love the supra...

One thing which is sort of controversial, is roof scoops. I personally think they can be used with style..since they are not quite popular...nowhere near as popular as hood scoops, and altezza taillights.

115 is the number used to identify the car on the track... as if anything else would ever look like that.

rice is pretty much mean no functional. if your part of the show scene you will hear that alot by die hard racers.

Everyone has their different rice qualifying factors. That first pick with the Nissan: RICE! All the way

But then theres guys like the Civ hb owner. 19's (or are those 20's) stuffed up in the wheel well like that is stupid looking yes, but rice? I would say no. Now if he had a giant wing on there, THAT would qualify him for rice. Why have a wing when those heavy ass chrome rims are gonna keep your car under 100mph anyway?:bloated:

He DOES look like he needs a good ol fashioned beat down tho. What is he posing like that for? Is he goin in GQ next month??? And WTF is that chain around his neck? He looks like he robbed a giant rotweiler!

god those rims are friggin huge. If you want a quick laugh go to tirerack.com and throw some 20's on your car. I did for mine and you couldn't pay me to put rims that big on there. I think my 17"s are already too big.

I thought they regulate on the wheel size you can put on your car? I was playin around with my accord and they only offered me 16's 17's and 18's!?

Plus they only gave me certain style rims.

Kind of funny story. One day at work (my old job, back in Missouri), there was a kid, just turned 16. He had a 91 honda civic, I believe. It was a pretty nice car..sounded good...he got the windows tinted...looked nice. He did a few small ignition upgrades to his car, but nothing major. One day, while talking to him and my manager (my manager owns a camaro..plans on entering in the NHRA)..and I sarcastically said "hey, if you get some racing seats, they add like 15hp!". I laughed, and the kid goes "really?". I go "yeah, and if you put neons all over your interior, it adds like what, 10hp!". The kid was in awe...he repeats "dude, are you serious?". The manager says "no man...get it right...racing seats are 10...and the neons are 15..". Finally, I told him I was kidding around...but it was a funny moment..

Another funny story. A guy I knew had a 95 Chevy Cavalier..stock, base model...4 cylinder. Automatic transmission. He had the windows tinted...had NOS decals all over that thing...on the interior, it only got worse. he had wires going EVERYWHERE with his neon tubes,...he had at least 4 neon tubes in the interior. He had a "NOS" steering wheel cover, and floormats. I once asked him what kind of engine he had in there. He replied "<long pause> that's between me......and my mechanic". A close friend of his informed me it was the base model...pretty funny stuff...needless to say this guy talked a bunch of crap to everyone..

My old PH sig used to have my list of rice mods and their power ratings. Dozens of decals, tons of yellow paint, and fourteen trips to Pep Boys later, I had somethin like a 550 hp Accord. Naturally aspirated too!:bigthumb:

I had to ditch the sig tho, cuz it was entirely too long. Took up about 25-30 lines, then members started to get annoyed when my sig was longer than anybody's posts:comprage1

I have no problem with guys who like to make there cars look nice. but when your tring to race with a spoiler and kit then rice is a perfect name for you.

I don't know if this qualifies as rice or not...but isn't it funny when you see like...a Cavalier w/ a Type-R sticker on it? Or a older style Grand Prix w/ an aluminum wing on it? Or a rusted out pimp mobile smoking like it's got a blown head gasket w/ spinners on it? HHHMMM...rims cost more than the car? Well-unfortunately I have seen each and every one of these examples in my town! Some people just do not understand. But yeah-the overdose on stickers and emblems...along w/ neons...and maybe some homey-chrome and a potato shooter as a muffler is rice.

I saw a Dodge Avenger yesterday with two 1.5 foot wide racing stripes and as I was passing by I saw some japanese dude all laid back in the seat. I looked down a bit and noticed something red under his door handle, and there was a fuckin SiR sticker. He must have some Canadian Si parts on his Dodge :confused: :rolleyes:

there is an elantra around me that has the auto zone vtec tuning sticker on it and a type S sticker on it....LMFAO, for the most part though its the cavaliers that try and race everyone. my friend has an h22 hatch and they always go and try and race him, they think you need a kit 2 be fast, and they all roll around w/ APC cans sticking way out from their bumpers:loser:

My girlfriend has a base 2.2 '97 cavalier. It's a bit torquey but if you floor it you don't go anywhere. It makes all the loud sounds of a normal engine though lol...

BTW "rice" is a term bigass domestic cars use for imports when they are faster than them aka - ricers/riceburners etc..

Not Necessarily. Here in Tampa, "rice" is used quite often among the import racing crowd, towards the fast and the furious wannabe kids.

I have decided to take a stand against all the American "rice" rolling around. The Neons, Cavaliers, and S-10s of the world that have completely lost their way. They are now "burgered out". If our Hondas, Acuras, Nissans, Toyotas, etc are "rice" because the Asians that built them "only" eat rice and therefore MUST power their vehicles with them, then these Fords, Chevys, and Dodges, etc built by Americans must be powered by the hamburgers that America is so notorious for! I'm proud to be American, but goddamn do we love our McDonalds!!!:bloated:

So let us unite as we fight the BurgerStangs with GT-R badging, the BurgerNeons with huge aluminum APC wings, the BurgerCavaliers with F-Bird style hood scoops and 5in exhaust tips, the BurgerS10s with APC altezzas and Supra style spoilers at the end of the cargo bed!!!!!

Amen! It would be nice if the american cars stuck to their own look, and modifications, and let us be. I mean, you don't see many honda's running around with V8's in them...if we can't have their V8's, then I want our decals, the 5inch exhaust tips, and rims back!!!

(I'm not a fan of 5 inch exhaust tips, but lets face it...the import crowd DOES sort of "own" the rights to them, unfortunately.)

Trap speeds change from car/car but a 115mph trap should get u somewhere in the 12.0-12.5 range. Let's take my friend's 911 Turbo for example. At the track, picking 3 of his runs he ran

As you can see, his 12.7 he trapped higher than his 12.6 run. Your trap speeds really don't mean much, as long as you have no major error in your run, your trap should stay about the same. Trap speeds really come into play from when u wanna find out if a car is faster from a roll than you or not. Now please before u make fun of someone again, make sure u know what u are talking about first :bigthumb:

Wrong. My brother ran mid 14's @ 118 mph with street tires, due to traction problems. With good traction, he's looking at 12's...and a slightly lower trap speed. If you have an unusually high trap speed, then most likely, you're losing traction at the beginning. 115 mph doesn't always mean you're in the 12's...

YES did u even read what I said you fucking tool :rolleyes: I didn't say that 115mph means u are automatically in the 12's. I said things change car/car and who cares that your brother ran a 14@118, it just means he is a troll who cannot prep his car properly when going to the track. Exactly, he is going to get a real tire, go back to the track *assuming what u said is true* and run a 12.5@115mph. Wow holy shit, I was so far off base. I was using the numbers of 12.0-12.5@115mph in properly prepped cars. Who cares about dumbasses who come to the track with street tires who cannot hook. No one...........and it was an estimation, meaning not always accurate, a safe guess. You should consider a dictionary for your next purchase.

I have a stock Accord. The track isn't ready for that kind of power yet. :bigthumb:
