actually i want that closed because it's not very popular and was supposed to be for drifting too
This is an anime forum so everyone is allowed to talk about whatever anime including initial D

Well, I started this thread thinking of the anime...since Initial D is spread across three different types of media you can't very well rip the thread to three different places. I MEANT THE ANIME...THE GAME AND THE MANGA CAME ALONG WITH IT AND ARE BYPRODUCTS OF THE DISCUSSION. Clear enough? Thanks.

the anime is still freaking cool even though the graphics and animation look a bit funky in the first stage.

Right, that's what I thought. I had heard all this talk of Initial D and when I watched it I was like :eek7: "this is all the hype?" But being a car guy and all, the story wrapped me up and the racing CGIs were something refreshing to watch. Second Stage and the movie blew me away...the CGI's in the movie are badass!

actually in the movie then overlap a normal ink cell over the CGI so it gives the cars more depth. They explain it on the Movie DVD you can get from Ebay.
The story and the drifting caught my imagination.
Cuz i saw the cars going sideways i was like WTF is drifting. I happened to download it from Kazaa by chance and i'd been watchin car vids and anime from the internet for ages for something to mix both i was over joyed altho i didn't watch the episodes in order which caused a few probs.
damn good stuff tho.

I used to only be into modern cars such as the skyline and the S15. But my brother told me once you start watching Initial D you'll have such a bigger respect for older cars and I did after watching it. Now I love Initial D and it still gives me chills when I see that drift that Takumi pulled off on Ryosuke. hehe

I really like initial D. i know people who have played the aracde game. If you have a jap spec, chipped or so on ps2 you can buy it for ps2. I have loads of the tokyopop English books, and i may get some of th episodes of Kazaa. Are they in Japanesse of Kazaa?

Yes you can get them in Kazaa. Some are in Japanese and others in Cantonese(or some asian language which isn't Japanese) but they're all subbed.

Hi,
I just watched Initial D this past weekend at BAAF in NYC. It was awesome! Anyway, I was just wondering about one of the cars in the movie, the one that misfires. Does anyone know whether his misfiring system would actually give any advantage in real life racing? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

It does help with racing, but it's horrible for the car.

they use it on rally cars and they usually use the same engine for a couple of stages

yes it eliminates turbo lag but it will kill your engine and turbo....
it basically causes the engine to misfire and dump unburn fuel into the manifold were it will ignite and spin teh turbo

How much you guys pay for a game? It's $2 USD here, and an additional $2 for the card! Well, this is when I last check...
I haven't bought any books, too expensive, but I watched most of the Stage 1,2 and the movie. Honestly, I think they over-rated the AE86, which made everyone want one and now everyone is trying to sell their Corollas at higher prices!

The arcade game is awesome. The manga and Anime are pretty sweet too. I don’t like the change in soundtrack in the U.S. "Tricked out" version. If they were going to ut any other music in over the original it should have been like Euro beat stuff like from the game. That’s just my opinion. But yea it is really a good thing I think. It is really informative as far as racing terms and car models for people who may just be getting into cars and racing. Plus it is not your typical U.S. drag racing like fast and the furious (although I really like both of those movies) but it's drifting. They are totally different styles of racing in which you use totally different tuning and setup for the car.(shocks brakes ect.)
What cars do you guys run in the arcade?(if you play) I have an impreza wrx STi, Nissan S-13, a Mazda Infinity 3 FC3S RX-7(I actualy will be buying one soon in real life), and and a Toyoda MR-S s edition. The impreza is my fave. out of the 2. It can take corners allot better than the mr-s.But the toyota is the better looking of the two.

I only pay $1.50 per car/inspection and $.75 per play. Where do you live? that stinks.

dude i totally agree with your statement that the eurobeat soundtrack rules, because it's so freaking addicting that it's not even funny...I sometimes see myself humming the intro song (around the world) or I am singing No one sleep in tokyo
hahahahah
it rules: :ylsuper:
