I am going to be getting a ZC DOHC and i have a couple questions. I have a 1990 Honda Civic EX w/ the d16a6 and i was wondering if my existing tranny and ECU will work with the ZC, or will i have to get new ones.

Are there any hidden surprises i should be aware of or any major/minor mods that i'll have to do when swapping the engine.

but the down side is i haven't gotten to run my car yet

I know on my ZC I had one plug left over from the DX harness not plugged into anything. It was for a sensor the DX had that the ZC does not.

As for vacuum hoses the MAP sensor one goes into the throttle body and the one for the emissions valve is just left unhooked.

That EX is basically an Si Sedan so it is plug and play except for you will want to transfer some wires from the A6 distributor and run it to the cylinder position sensor on the exhaust cam.

yeah what i did for the dizzy swap was cut the plug off my old dist and the plugs off the harness that came with the engine... matched colors and sodered that way if i ever want to throw an a6 back in all i do is unplugg...

yes, their is an extra plug on the harness that is not used, and the red vacuum hose on the top left on the engine bay is not used, just cap it off with a bolt or golf tee.

About how long should a full swap take (taking out d16a6 and putting in the ZC DOHC and making everything run)

I just got a new distributor about a month before my engine went out and spent some good money it to be replaced on my d16a6. I was wondering if this distributor will work on my new ZC DOHC?

no the distributers are different... the best thing you can do is sell it on ebay or thepartstrader.com

I have a comment....although the d16a6 ECU will run the ZC, it is a SOHC ECU, and will perform as such...I would recommend sending in your Si ECU to ZDyne for a ZC re-program, or the other cheapy way to do it is to get an 89 Integra 5-speed ECU, It is made for the d16a1, but it is still better than the Si ECU for the ZC.

Good Luck with your swap!

I have heard that the SOHC ECU will work but i guess not as good as the one set up for the correct engine. But if i do keep the SOHC ECU with the ZC DOHC what will the disadvantages be and if i get the '89 Integra ECU what will be the advantages.

Phact and I have been working hard toget his ZC running good... how much is that Zdyne ECU ZC reprogram? We had an ECU from an integra, but it was the incorrect one, and didn't work for shit... then we switched back to the 4g Si ecu and it ran much better... Phact ran a 16.1 on the Si ECU...

So using the 4g Si ECU the car is running good?
