This may be old news to some, but anyway, after Monaco Michelin made a 14" wide front tyre for Williams which has transformed their car. McLaren uses a 13.5" wide front tyre, and Ferrari use 13" wide Bridgestone currently. This week Ferrari will be testing a 14" wide front tyre, a trade off in aero performance, but if the effect is as good as Williams had......

Cool, I hope they work as good for Ferrari as they did for Williams. If they do there will be no stopping Ferrari, or atleast Michael .

And it's not just the width that Michelin and Bridgestone are different at. If you look from the front, you'll see that Michelins are rather square while Bridgestone make oval tyres.

That explains why they are slower.......tyres need to be round to be effective.....

It looks like the teams will be playing with the trade offs between a greater contact area with more grip area as opposed to more aerodynamically efficient.

And you'd think that oval > square :D
