SI tranny help

is there any way to id an si tranny while its still in the car? not able to see the pl3 numbers. i thought you could tell by mph and rpms? :dogpile:

Some of it depends on what size wheels u have too...Big-ass aftermarket wheels will make your speedo read low.
DX tranny = 13" tires, 5th gear, 60MPH = 2850 RPM
Si tranny with same specs - faster than that :biggrin: , but prolly like 2800 in 4th and 3-3100 or so in 5th.
That is my guess...there are so many variations it is hard to tell for sure.

any other variations? i remember going 62 mph and tach being at 3000

sounds about right. Im at around 70mph at 3000 on my dx tranny.

On the side of the tranny case right above the fill hole there are #'s casted and PL3-3000 is Si trans and any other is a dx or hf or 4 speed

In my SI, around 60-65mph I'm doing about 2800 rpm (give or take 100) in 5th gear. Be aware that the SI's have 14 inch wheels on them though.
