hey,
I finally got a new engine besides my slow D15 92hp DPFi engine.
I know you guys are probably not gonna be to impressed but I got a D16a out of a 90 CRX SI.
I mean I had to go MPFI and might as well get some more ponies.
its a 1.6 liter compared to a 1.5 with 15 more hp.
plus i got a good deal on it and it just came today.
Its sitting in my garage just waiting to be put in.
I have some questions real quick for you guys that have done swaps.
I know this engine is not as hard as a ZC or B16 but I know I will have some complications since I have never put a engine in.
I have some friends that will help me.
Ok, is it possible if you had about 4 guys lifting the engine to pull the old one out or put the new one in?
Or would I have to rent a engine hoist and where could I rent one?
Also, I have to get a SI ECU correct? I cant just modify my LX one.
How long do you think it would take me to do this?
Also any special tools I would need besides the hoist and sockets, wrenches and other basic tools?
I got the Haynes repair manual that tells you step by step on how to take it out and put a new one in.
Ill use fourthgenhatch.com web site on how to wire the MPFI.
How long do you think it would take if I had some friends really help me and I worked on it alot.
ALso, its best to remove the hood of the engine correct?
Will I need a new SI injector box correct?
Any other tips would be appreciated.

Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks

yes, use an SI ecu and a SI tranny, a engine hoist would be key but try to do it your way......whatever works

1. yes you can by using a 4x4 and some chain

2.pretty sure this is a yes

3.maybe a weekend or a lil bit more. you can nvr tell what problems you will run into.

4.there is a tool to pull out your axles at autozone(can't remember the name) that will make things easy, and a ball joint separator(don't remember than one either go and ask autozone again) and a breaker bar is a must at least for the axle nuts.(if you have to replace them)

5.GJ!

6.GJ AGAIN! refer to # 3

7.yes and the radiator and ac lines.

What? Hell no man , u better get an engine lift. Its not safe to do it that way. The engine is still heavy. It gets heavier the longer u hold it.

Yeh i would get an si ecu. How long would it take you to do the swap? It should be a days work if the bolt comes out easily or if your not missing any parts and stuff. Yes you have to remove the hood and yes you have to get injector box.

Aiight thanks guys.
What do you think will be the hardest part of all this?
Axles?
Takin the engine out.
Will it be easier to put a engine in then take it out?

yea i would say that is would be easier to put it back in since you just have to do the reverse order of what you just did, if you have to make a list of what you do like

1.unplugg harnesses

2.undo ac lines etc.etc so you can just check off the reverse order while puttin in the new one. :bigthumb:

Aiight I am planning to leave my A/c out to save weight and hp.
A/C just adds extra stress on the engine correct?

I really dont need it since I keep my windows down all the time.
Only thing im worried about is the resale value. lol

HKS and Gude is the only company that i know of. HKS make billet cams for them. Its pretty expensive though.
