me vs. S2000

my friend just bought a new car today. its a used 2k2 S2000. the car has 8000 miles on it so there is no breaking in required. after we drove the car around for a good amount. we decided to go for it. there was 3 races. first race he bogged cause he only launched at 3.5K and wasn't aware of the torquelessness of the F20c. so i pulled hard on first and continued to pull. but by the end of the race i was only a car ahead? huh? anyways this time we decided to go from a roll. from a roll it was no contest. as soon as my turbo spooled up on first gear i was pulling on him thru every gear. ever gear i was pulling by atleast 1 car. so we pulled and i asked him what happend. he said that i had a head start. oh wellz i'll give him another run. the final race we it from a dig again. this time he launched at 5.5K he got a good launch and took me off the line by half a car. as soon as my turbo spooled up by the end of first gear, i pulled past him already. after that, we stayed even. however, on third gear he said that he was gaining on me, and that if we kept on goin he would beat me. well i need a new clutch then i'll race him again and this time i would make sure i beat him good.

8-9psi. i was serious when i was racing this car. now if i had a clutch, i would pull even harder on every shift.

i've ran against s2ks, running about 12 psi, on stock turbo, errr...i mean, s2k is a beautiful car, dont get me wrong, but i did pull on him on the high end,,, i'm just wondering, if ur running a t04 turbo with supporting mods, shouldn't u be pulling on him by more than a couple car lengths? im just wondering, no offense intended

Get a lightweight flywheel while you're at it
kill 2 birds with one stone
It'll help the turbo spool up too

I am going to agree and say you really need to push for a new flywheel at the same time as the clutch...You would be kickin even more ass on lyour launches.

the fuel pump was kinda weird. when i removed the rear plate. the pump wasn't attached to it. i was like what da hell is this? then i checked on the alldata to see exactly where it was, and as it turns out, the fuel pump bracket is somewhere on the side of that big hole. its kinda hard to find, you have too really stick your hand in there to feel for it. other then that, it was pretty straight forward.

As much as I admire the S2000, I have to believe you in this.
1) You both weigh around the same.
2) At the right boost, you should be putting out more power...not to mention torque.
3) Your car is geared for N/A application...meaning shorter gears than what would normally come in a long-legged turbo motor.
Why don't you bet your buddy something;)?

heh thanks. about the torque thing. my car makes more torque virtually anywhere on my power band then that S2000. heheh you really have to floor to shit out of the thing to get that car to go anywhere. v-tec is nice but turbo baby turbo!

FYI:
It's a proven fact that 2000-2001 S2Ks are slower than the 2002-2003. Something to do with more aggressive computer tuning.
I've read about multiple races where an I/H/E 2000 S got pulled on by a bone-stock 2002+ S.

Those cars are incredibly hard to launch. You basically have to drive an S2000 like you stole it. Some guy at LACr actually knew what he was doing, but since that track is at such high altitude (Not to mention that it is hot), he only got a 15 sec. time slip (Corrected he would be in the mid 14's). I'm in the same shoes as you. I need a clutch badly. Fortunately for me I already purchased a Z06 clutch :)

LOL, I understand then. The McLeod borders on a grand with a FW, SPEC isn't too far behind.
