I found a 91 crx si with a usdm zc in it. it really cheap i just have to finish the wireing. I'm going to start with headers, intake, exhaust, and ecu. It also comes with the jdm zc head. I'm going to get my uncle to port and polish it for me then add gude cams and cam gears (not sure what brand yet though). i know when you take off the head you can drop the oil pan and replace the pistons without removeing the block. I konw plenty of people who have done it. my only question is doesnt the block need to be honed before adding new pistons?? I'm asking because i might just wait on the head install till i can afford new pistons and rods.
Anyone have any ideas how much hp i'll have with these mods (minus the pistons and rods). I'm thinking ill be in the mid to low 14 range on 1/4 time. i also plan on adding a 75 shot to hopefully be knocking on the door of the low 14 high 13 range.

yes the block should be bored and honed before you put in new pistons, so they seat properly

usdm zc as in the d16a1 out of a 86-89 integra. which happens to be a 1.6 dohc non vtec. no bs here just a misunderstanding maybe. not sure if there rated the same as far as power though.

but there is a big BUT here.... the usdm zc(teggy motor) dosen't fit in the 89-91 civic/crx at all, not even close.

this guy owns his own shop. he has the crx with the motor out of a 86-89 integra in it. I have seen the integra the motor came out of. I could be mistaken though so don't take this personal.

i think you might wanna check again because the teg zc from what i've read (99% +) dosen't fit in a civic/crx

Unless he made his own mounts for the 88-89 Teg motor, then its not true....
Putting a 88-89 Teg motor in a 4g civic/2g Crx would be pointless, because the d16a1 has garbage for power, something like 112hp.
And last, the d16a1 is a different motor than the true Dohc Zc. The head and block would not mate up.
Check the flat spot where the motor meets the trans, just below the distributor. The engine code is right there. Most likely its a DOHC Zc, or a USDM 90+ Integra b18xxx....But I seriously doubt its from an 88-89 Teg.
