I can't remember which website but I think it stated that the owner of the website sometime uses liquid mask on top of the masking tape after applying the part he wants to mask. I was wondering if anyone is using it can give me more details what it actually is and is it useful? Thanks.

I have some by the company Ambroid. It's supposed to be a goopy type of liquid that dries as a skin so you can mask off curves and tight spots. I'm not sure of any other brand that makes it, but mine dried on a bit too tacky and I was unable to peel it off successfully. I've heard some people that left it in warm water to help ease it off.

Parma international makes a great liquid paint mask i use it all the time to mask off small areas. it dries to a rubber like material and can be pulled off in one shot. i found mine at a hobby shop that sells r/c cars and trucks and i am pretty sure you can find it online. i highly recommend it.

It's just what it sounds like. It's pretty much a liquid masking tape, ( and something that didn't work too well for me). I had almost the same problem with it that Syndicate had with it drying tacky and not wanting to peel off. You would probably be better off just using regular masking tape and misting the first couple coats of paint on really lightly to seal the edges of the tape. Wait for a few more people to reply that may be able to give you tips on using it if you just want to try it, otherwise, just do like I said above.

I have the Gunze Sangyo Mr. Liquid Mask, and 2 coats does the trick. It's a kind of liquid vinyl(?) that's supposed to dry easily and can be taken or lightly scraped off after it serves as a proper mask.

But the cleanup isn't real good, and if it came on too thin some of the paint will chemically meld with the mask and make it too tacky to remove. My recommendation DON'T use liquid masks until you really really have to.

I use MrHobby's Mr Masking Sol NEO.

Especially good for masking off extremely small parts like the buttons on the car console or the buttons on the steering wheel of an F1 car.

Just put small dabs on the buttons. Spray the entire console. Then lift up the dried SOL with a tweezer. You are ready to paint the individual buttons.

The SOL requires at least 20mins to dry.

Apply twice to be on the safe side as 1 layer of application may not be thick enough to block your spray.

If the area that you are masking is realtivly smooth, try a thin layer of tack glue. I use it for masking and dryfitting because it dries clear and peels off of smooth plastic without leaving any residue when dried sufficiently. A bottle is only $0.88 at your local craft store. Try it on a scrap piece before you mess up a perfect paint job though :icon16:

for all you artists out there, we use it in water color painting to preserve white blank areas. i can see how it can be useful for hobbies, but im not sure if the liquid mask for water color and hobbies would be interchangeable:confused:
