I finally did it!

Yes! After contemplating on whether or not I was going to keep my '89 hatch, I finally forced my chubby little fingers on that interac machine and bought suspension. KYB GR2's and Eibach Sportlines. I hope they give me a good ride. I can't afford Koni's and I don't need adjustables so I stayed away from the AGX's and saved money on the GR2's. I'll post pics when it's all done.

put em on then buy rims IMO, no point waiting, let em settle in

I don't want wheels anytime soon. I just want black steelie's. The whole thing I'm worried about is if it will be too low on my 13" tires that I have right now.
Civic Jim
07-09-2003, 08:49 AM
how big is the drop?
toronto pimp
07-09-2003, 09:04 AM
Eibach sportlines...they'll probably settle to just under 2"
1.8 or 1.9 maybe i think

well i lowered mine about the same and the roads around my area are ruff and my house is on a hill and the only thign that hit were the front mudflaps once or twice, it will be fine
toronto pimp
07-09-2003, 09:09 AM
And you're on 13" tires? I already took those damn mudflaps off but I can't get the back ones off cuz the screws are so old you can't move em.
Civic Jim
07-09-2003, 09:12 AM
yeah i was on 13" for 3 weeks and it handled a LOT better (until i put on the 17"), i dont have any rear ones, just pull on em hard or cut the heads of the screws off
toronto pimp
07-09-2003, 09:27 AM
yea i wanna rip those fuckers off. i dont really care for wheels. the only wheels id ever get which ill never have money for are those black spoon wheels. other then that i just want 14"-15" steelies or MAYBE SiR wheels but i dont think those would look good on a white car. I'll probably get 14" steelies just to save a few bucks if you say it will handle and sit fine. Also, does wheel size have any affect on camber?

you should be fine i have a 2.25 drop an i was rollin on 13s, greg has a 3 in drop i think and he is on 13s
the smaller the tire the less camber , the bigger u go the more wear u will notice

i dont understand CIVIC owners in general...
every lowered civic i see in my town bounces around. you wanna know why? coilovers or lowering springs and stock shocks dont mix...
GR2's are stock replacements... they shouldnt ever be used with lowering suspension
go to www.3geez.com
that is a forum for 3rd gen accords... at 3geez, we stress soo much that you cant buy a stock strut and expect the ride to be ok with a lowering spring.. it can even become dangerous...
im not ragin on civic's or anything, the reason i came here is because i am getting a civic next spring after i have had my fun wth my accord.. (lowered on LOWBOYZ full bodied coilovers with high performance strut valving)

i think i'm gonna save some cash for AGX's i've blown 1 or 2 or my GR-2's already but they have a lifetime warranty apparently

its definetly worth it.. when you decide to get coilovers or springs, it will ride soo much better

i have GR2's
i think the ride is excellent, really tight. not bouncy at all.

oh shit! your car is lowered.. that would explain the blowing of the shocks... you are over working them with the lowering spings or coilovers..all lowering springs and coilovers are much stiffer than stock and they wear that shit out fast.. if you get AGX i promiss that you wont blow a shock again

yea well some roads here are fairly bumpy and stuff so thats why it blew i bet, it sux, i wanna get em re-placed asap and see what its like afterwards
dxhatchback

bumps will kill the strut 10X faster... i worked in a tire/wheel/suspension shop last summer... i installed over 15 sets of coilovers on civics.. i would say 12 people came back with blown struts and complaints of a bouncy ride.. i installed koni's, agx, and even some tokico's on cars and it solves all the problems....
people that say.. "it rides fine" or "works great for me" just dont know what a lowered car is supposed to ride like

push hard on the car, it should go down and back up once... if it does it more than once, its bouncing... anyway, get some AGX's and it will be like riding in a ferarri

if your roads are rough, then they will die in a month or two... if not... maybe you will get a year or more....i know on canadian roads, its rough
