Mustang with a fancy kit & pig of a motor or a 1 of <1000 yenko that would blow its doors off on either a strip or roadcourse. sorry, got to go with the yenko, rarer, better motor and chassis, its got the works.

GT500- a Wesitie V8 is a Westie V8 to me- and I suppose it all comes down to what looks better for me- which is the Mustang- the Camaro is ugly :bloated:
btw- Westie=bougan/NASCAR fan//redneck/mullet-donner etc :p

yenko camaro beat a gt500 on a road course?
really?
the yenko was a strip car all the way... at least the shelby had road racing tendencies and a road racing back ground...
what about baldwin camaros? don't leave them out...
and it's not a fair comparo, one was an actual "manufacturer" shelby, compared to a dealer that made cars...
the shelby was built at a higher standard, as it came from the shelby "factory" as opposed to modified at the dealer...
tough call... i like the looks of the shelby. obviously not your everyday mustang...
the yenko is a bit more sleeper in comparison...

Just for the fact that it ran a 3 link rear vs a 4, on a solid axle, especially back then, it would outhandle it. Also remember that the 9560 yenkos ran all aluminum engines, much lighter then the boat anchor of a motor the GT500 had. Shelby had a GREAT history with racing classic mustangs, only they were with GT-350s, not GT-500s, there's a huge difference in the way they perform.

Based on looks alone I'd go with the Shelby.

I hate to not vote for a Shelby but I'll take the Yenko over it. I don't like Mustangs really unless it's a Shelby, and the newer ones aren't too bad but just my personal preference. I just loved those late 60's and 70's Camaro's, and the Chevelle's too.

I'm torn between. I meen, I LOVE camaro's and the yenko is one hell of a car but.. the Shelby GT 500 is damn near considerd an exotic car lol. Most people will agree the gt500 is the king of all muscle cars. It's an icon!
So my vote goes to the Shelby GT 500. but the yenko is still one ****ing car!

On looks I'd take the Shelby, (if it was a 68, 69s are fugly). On performance, the Camaro would wipe its ass with the Shelby. No question.
Shelby specs:

The Yenko:

11.94 quarter? I'd say that's pretty fast...

oh man this is tough. can't believe i'll say this but in my opinion the Shelby has a much sexier body than the yenko camaro. I'd go the Shelby GT500 all the way. just look at those lines and that sexy ass on the shelby :biggrin:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131259shelby_500-med.jpg
and heres a 69 yenko camaro to compare:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/13125969_yenko_ag-med.jpg
both got sexy behinds and aggressive looking front ends but i think the shelby is just a bit more aggressive in the looks than the yenko even though the yenko does have the power.
oh by the way, are the GT500's really only $70,000 fully restored??? if so then damn i'm gonna save up and get one.

Track = GT500
Strip = Yenko
Camaro ugly!!!??? Both are beautiful cars man. Though I'd rather have a run of the mill stang or camaro and restomodify it (with a Shelby or Yenko that'd be like cutting up the Mona Lisa) and get away from the 60's suspension and handling.
P.S. Hey Yogs GO WINGS!

I think this is a strictly subjective issue. Perfromance was so up for grabs you can't just say "this one is faster" Keep in mind that even though the 428PI and CJ are listed as the available engines for the GT500's you could "get" just about any engine you wanted in a GT500 if you asked nicely and ponied up the dough.
There is more than one 427ci GT500 running around and a couple of those are tunnel ports. Actually though, as stupid fast as a 427 tunnel port GT500 would be I would rather have a 428CJ car money aside. If only because the tunnel port would be damn near unstreetable.

Oh, btw. After 68 you got what they shoved under the hood. If you wanted something wild you would have had to have gotten it in 67 or 68.

Pulling my hair out trying to decide. Why can't I have both? I can't stress enough how much I love both cars. But, I've been a Mustang lover since I can remember, so I gotta go with the Shelby.

I would take a '69 COPO Camaro with the ZL1 427 and dog dish rims over either of them.
