I recently bought a 1991 Ford Escort LX, not the station wagon, but it is a 4 door. I bought it because my grandparents bought an exact model but the wiring in their escort went bad. They are giving me the entire car and the escort that I bought has a bad trasmission. My dad and I are just going to replace the engine along with the transmission. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on mods to do to my engine as long as I already have it taken apart. I was also wondering if anyone knew any good websites where I could find body kits and mods for my escort. Also any websites that had stuff like wings (universal or custom) and graphics and stuff like that would be helpful. Thnx

hotter more aggressive cams.
stronger valve springs.
increase displacement and increase compression.
adjustable cam gears.
port and polish the exhaust headders.
bigger fuel injectors (maybe this is more advance planning and can be done at a later point same with porting the headders.)
gut your catalitic converter (can also be done at a later time but would be easier to do with the engine out.)
personally i would not sell your lx for a GT because you have .1 ltrs on the GT... really the LX is more of a sleeper then a GT...
if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me
