Yep, we had a d17 with bad rod bearing laying around the shop so now it is my project. Anybody else want to help?

the y8 head is slightly better b/c it has square combustion chambers...not sure its all that big a deal though...get whatever you can get a hold of easiest/cheapest....def. try to use the y8 intake mani...

i'm with all that except using the y8 intake mani. you need to figure out more than just what head to bolt on. it is well known honda likes to change the impedance of the injectors. that becomes tricky in the wiring dept. we also noticed the shape of the y8 injectors is slightly different than the z6 & a6. the y8 injector seats in a little different.

i'm not into the mini-me swaps....however i understand the y7 was left over and is now a project. if i had to chose a route i would chose the z6 head + p28 ecu

edit: this may have nothing to do with anything but another difference noticed was the fuelrail. it mounts a little different for the y8. for as much as d series parts are mixable...i can't use the apc fuelrail for y8 with a6 parts. in general we found a6 & z6 parts are more capatible with each other than the y8 is with either a6 or z6. that is something to keep in mind

Well the engine in my car is a d15b1, damn std, so i new that i was gonna have to do some wiring changes. So this engine is being built from bottom up. Maybe keep the same rods but the entire engine is being torn apart.
