REALLY OLD Skylines

The skyline was first introduced by Prince Motors (bought by Datsun in 1966). It was one of the first cars to test the European market from Japan. It has been available as a sedan, hardtop, coupe, or station wagon. It has also had diesels!. It was the first Japanese car with 3 carbs, a 4 valve, twin cam engine, and the first in the world with 4-wheel steering. A sample (1985, perhaps): 240K, 112mph top speed, Overhead cam, I-4 or 6 cylinder, 2.4L, 91-205hp. 5 speed, 2315-2734lbs. $4709-7281 in 1985. (It is a little odd, it comes from a pamphlet I have, and it is not always accurate or precise).

hehe me and a mte of mine see this 70's datto skyline on the way to tafe each morning - its a four door and the paint isnt great but i really lve its frypan tail lights! - its the only pre R30 skyline ive seen in australia

It's neat to think of how the Skyline went from general crap to god-status. Mostly the opposite way of doing things in major car companies (T-bird, for example)

i dont think these cars were thought of as crap in their day man :)

Chris the R30 also had a 5 door hatch variant, similar to the wagon...practical but ugly

A 5-door hatch! What a difference from a 800+hp (modded) GT-R!

My mate has a 5 door hatch r30...sure ugly as hell..but his one goes nuts. :D could be something to do with all the $ he has poured into it....he beats me...my come back is still so...its ugly... :flipa:
