car vibrations

I own a 1990 Dodge Colt with a 4-spd manual transmission. Sometimes when the car is idle at a standstill the entire body begins to vibrate. I have tried putting the cars park brake on while at idle but it seems that doing that didnt stop the vibrations. do any of you know what the problem may be and how i could fix it myself? i don't really want to send it into the shop and pay the money to get it fixed by pro's.

Is this a vibration that you feel throughout the car, or a noise that you hear?

I would guess that your engine needs a tune-up.

it is not a noise but a vibration throughout the entire body of the car.

well obviously I haven't experienced it myself, but my original guess still stands - it's probably the engine running rough & causing the car to vibrate.

Assuming you car is working alright, its probablly the alternator. It should stop if you turn off your AC, lights, etc.
