Yea you can do the swap if you have the money cause it is a lot better base but if you don't you can start off with I/H/E just to get you started

Lighten up your load. Drop the spare, swap out seats, carbon fiber hood, lighter wheels, if you can do without the ac 86 that. Just some ideas.

and be sure, if its not already, get a manual tranny.

btw, welcome to the forums. and i know you didnt ask, but im sure we could all do without one more rainbow.

I've added about 30 HP to my Accord for about 2 G's. the best thing you can do to start(if you don't want to do a swap) is get a whole new exhaust from the headers back, and also a new intake. I went with DC sports stainless steel headers and cat-back exhaust (sounds awesome, no fart can sound) and AEM short ram intake, ive also put on an ignition system from Holley, then you will also want to get better spark plugs and spark plug wires, then upgrade the fiel delivery system i.e. higher flowing injectors, high flow fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump and fuel lines.

did you run your car on dynamometer or 30hp is mathematical gain?

You spent 2g's on 30 hp???? Thats a waste of money man. Just a lil more you could've got the h22 swap.

get some NOS, turbo, h22 with a manual tranny. and then get a steep ass hill and then floor it! haha. you cant do any baby mods with that car..first big step is that engine. dont follow my advice about the NOS and stuff...haha it was something i wanted to say:icon16:

The gain is an estimation going off of the cars that i have raced and by the amount of time that i have dropped off. As for the engine swap, that is just an all too common thing, i want to go the different route and see what the F22 motor is capable, no one that i have heard of has tried to just beef up the F22 and go all motor, w/ an AT to boot. As a real tuner enthusiast would know pushing the limits and getting the most out of what you got is the funnest part of tuning a car. And epsecially being different, thats where the real props and pay offs come into play. Any body can do a swap, slap on a turbo or introduce some NOS and make a car go faster.

97 you do have a point there anyone with money can do a swap but to build a motor that every one says just can't cut it would be somthing to look at

and every accord forum that i go on someone has the same idea but no one has done it.

He is talking about my response about going all motor with the F22 motor, to see what it can handle. It will take me some time but my goal is to run low 13's and maybe even break into the 12's in the 1/4 mile. I know what it will take it and i know it can be done, but I am also going to keep it as a daily driver so i need to try and keep some of the great economy that accords are known for.

I already have a AEM short ram, DC Sports SS headers, DC Sports catback exhaust, Holley ignition system, magnecore 8mm plug wires, ngk iridium pugs, front and rear upper stut tower bars and an aluminum radiator. I've alson nixed the A/C and gutted out the rear seats and paneling from the trunk, also got rid of the spare. I plan on putting 2 bucket seat in place of the bench seat. and hacking off the rear deck lid so you will be able to see the custom box that Im going to fabricate.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good start there 97. What do you think of the Holley Ignition system and was there noticeable improvements? What injectors and fuel pump are you running?

Ok just so you guys know. Theres not many ppl that swapped in an h22. Atleast not in my area. To be different? How? Just because you're building a stock motor doesn't make you any different from the others.

The ignition system was a very good investment, i dont know what kind of gains it gave me but i did notice a significant differance in the way my car ran. The hotter spark allowed me to be able to burn premuim gas fully, so there is better combustion in the cylinder which equals more power. plus it allows you to set your own rev limiter with the ICM.

As for tuning the stock F22 motor, yea almost everyone put the standard bolt-ons on, but not very many people actually go inside and rebuild the motor, replacing all the internal stuff. People would just rather do a swap than rebuild the F22. And the swap as a way more common thing than you might think with the Accords.
