just wondering wut is faster o-60mph and in the 1/4 mile.....honda s 2000 oe the infiniti g 35 coupe 6spd.........i have heard that the 0-60 time ranges from 6.1 sec (road and track) to 5.7sec (car and driver)

The G is quicker, both are great cars but driving the Honda is alot like driving a turbo'd car because that engine is a high revving one with the rev limiter at 9k rpm, the VTEC in that thing doesn't kick in to somewhere around 3k and then it just pulls hard.

However, the G with the big V6 3.5 is always on the cam and just drop your right foot and make sure the OD is off and woosh you're gone. in sixty seconds or as Car & Driver quoted 5.5 seconds to 60 mph.

haha i the S2K's v-tec doesn't come int till around 5500 rpm not 3K. even people with vtec controllers don't set their vtec to engauge that early. anyways, i think the S2000 is quicker then the G35 coupe. but the Z is faster then the S2000 (only marginally) in the straightline. however, the Z will do a lap at a race track a good amount faster then the S2000. now as for the G35 coupe? i don't know, i haven't seen any videos of them testing it yet. but if i had to choose. the G please:bigthumb:

well the g35 is only marginally slower than the Z so i say that it will be able to take the s2000 on the track too....

hhhmmm............I guess I'd take an S2000- if I didn't need the extra refinement that the G provides- although I'd have to live with the S200's snappy chassis- but I like the engine a lot and with a Superrcharger- it should satisfy me greatly

The S2000 only has 153 lbs ft of torque and the G has over 280, the Honda is a very nice car but I think the G is just more of an agile performer with a real smoothness about it.

I know people who raced the S2k and said that they rev the engine to about 3 grand and then dump the clutch so that by that time the Vtec is ready to engage by the time they grab the next gear.

The G is much easier to drive than the Honda and IMO it looks sexier although the Honda is bad, plus the G is bigger with more room and overall refinement.

I'd take the G over the less torquier Honda.

Is the G35 priced in the same territory as the S2000?

Oh you want to play rough eh? Well the Stillen supercharger or GReddy Twin turbo kit will bolt up just nicely to the G35 Coupe...and bye bye S2K...you look good in the rear view mirror

The S2k w/the Vortech Supercharger only gets like marginally faster...100HP more but 0-60 in 5.3 seconds...wow and you spent how much on the kit?

the G has backseats, and when i sat in a s2k i had to struggle to get in and out, im not fat either (165 lbs) haven't been in a g but i imagine its got alot more space, plus im not a fan of convertables, it rains too much in washington

the s2k is a road track car. the rear diff doesnt like to launch hard enough to give good 1/4 mile times. id rather have a 350Z for less money than the G or S2k and its faster than both. (can you say GREDDY TWIN TURBOS with the money i saved buying the 350 instead)

Well, C&D picked the S2000 over the G35 Convertible....

well, for absolute speed, I think the s2k is faster, just cause it's so light. but coupe is great for touring, and has big torque, so much more comfortable.

personally, I hate the s2k, rip off for what it offers...but that's just my opinion

ok i just got done reading a comparison test between an S2K and a 350Z. the G35 is slightly slower than the 350Z and the S2k beat the 350 to 60mph and in the 1/4 mile.
Also the rev limitor isn't set at 9k on a S2k that's where it redlines at. And the V-tec doesn't kick in until 7k. Just to clarify some things.

hey, my dads got a black G35 coupe and its automatic, pussy, and my best friend has a stock 03' wrx and from a stand still his back tire was at my front tire all the way to 130. he hasnt raced an s2000 but id imagin he would lose.

r&t say the s2000 0-60 is 5.5 and a [email protected]
r&t say the Gcoupe 0-60 is 6.1 and a [email protected]

so the g might win in the long run. its top speed is 155 which i have done( its really easy to get there) and the s2000 is 150.

but my dad is going away for a week on monday so ill take it to the track and see what i can race.

i've seen an s2000 beat a c5 corvette too but that doesn't make the s2000 a faster car. :flipa:

I'd take the G35. The S2k's never appealed to me; if i wanted a snappy handler i'd rather have an Elise

typical responses from people who bought their cars and want to defend their purchases vs. cars they have no knowledge of, whatsoever.

I've driven an S2000, a 350Z, a G35, etc, etc. I go out to test drive every new car i can. The only car of these three i have messed around with on an autocross course was the 350Z.

To summarize it:
You don't get the extra room for us huge americans to sit in, you don't get cargo space, you don't get space for passengers, if you're too tall like I am, you won't have enough space for your seat, the S2K doesnt even have a tilt steering wheel so for tall people the car is just not as...fogiving.

However, the G35 is a sporty-luxury sedan. Ok yes they have a coupe model. But it's still a massive boat of a car. Not just by the looks, but by the feel of the car.

The S2000 is a roadster/sports car. The differential isnt launch friendly, it IS NOT a 1/4 mile performer. Take an S2000 canyon carving and you get a feel for the road, it's altogether an entirely different driving experience. And get's only better with the top down.

Bumpy, cramped, unforgiving, and hard to drive? Sure the S2000 is, thats why some people love it so much. It's not for everybody, but anyone who has driven both and than asked to compare the two...

One is a sports car, one is a luxury car. And on a road course, with a G35, dear lord can you say BODY ROLL ?

*and stop the mag racing. Some mags get a 92mph off the S2k, some get a 99mph. And one experience at the drag "that you saw" doesnt mean anything either.

Well said. Personally, I'd take an s2000. Not as practical, by my dad has one and I absolutely love everything about the car.

Guys im not here to bash the g35 or to make the s2k seem like the perfect car. However, you guys are bashing a car you know very little about. Just this thread is laden with errors, bout vtec engagement points and so on. The point is that even if you want to mag race these two cars, the s2k will still win. Just to clarify im talking about the 00-03 s2000's since i own an 02. The 04 recieved a stroked motor, different diff housing, lower redline, and bigger tires. The s2k is more agile and believe it or not faster then the g is str8 line accel. The g35 is better suited as a daily driver, it is not up to par with the s2k in sheer performance. A great car none the less. Please take the time to watch this video.

Raced one tonight. Some young guy and his G35 was tailing me the whole time. :)

It was too easy. By 4th gear I was at least 4 cars ahead of him.

G35 is boat compare to S2000. Can't even compare.
