Rough Idle and no MAF

My car has been exibiting symptoms of inconsistent idle for the last month. a sudden single drop in RPM, or 3-4 quick burst of drop in RPM. always at Idle. it can happen twice in a commute, or never on 2 hours drive.
The EGR was recently replaced, but I still concerned it may be bad, I have unplugged it to see if the problem persist.
I intended to clean the MAF when i got home last night, only to find it doesn't have one.
anywhere else to look or point?
2016 Limited 3.5

Clean the throttle body?
TB is cleaned. problem persist.
I typed wrong in last post. The canister purge valve (CPV)was replaced (not egr)
When i unplug the CPV, the rough idle goes away. comes back when plugged.
i replaced the CPV with another new one, problem comes back.
Check engine comes on when the CPV is unplugged and goes away when plugged back after the cycle commences so i assume it's working but causing an issue elsewhere.

OK so the problem has gone away after running super premium fuel and Lucas fuel additive for 2 tanks. the problem comes back on a tank of Regular fuel, but goes away on super premium(no additive).
Plugs are less than 10k old. should i be considering coil packs or injectors or some other area?

What codes are you getting, fuel octane should not be causing what you describe. If injector clean helps, that could indicate an injector issue. This all guesswork.

no codes... "all guesswork" is right... i was hoping somebody had an educated guess based on my only lead, the canister purge valve.

The 2016 Taurus most definitely has a MAF sensor. Look near the airbox. Two Torx head screws hold it in place.
