Why do some engines have timing chains on rear ends? That is where transmissions/transaxles are attached to.

Many engines have a transmission attached by an inverted link ("timing") chain. One of the first modern examples of that was Oldsmobile Toronado in 1964.
As for chain as a final drive, that's been around for over 120 years. Up until 1960, Honda was still using chain drive as its main transmission on their S600.

Are you referring to drive chains, or timing chains? Recently Ford had timing chains connecting the camshafts on the flywheel/flex plate end of the engine to synchronize the cams, but it was not used to drive the transmission.

I'm referring to timing chains that drive camshafts, not transmissions. There was a video of a man disassembling an engine that came out of 2022 Audi S5 vehicle. The engine overheated, causing block or heads to warp.

Okay. Yep, at least Ford has done something similar on some of the Explorers.
