i've heard that there is a rare GT model that comes with a 3.5L instead of a 2.7L, i can't remember where i read it but i was wondering if any of you had heard anything about it and availability and how much extra it would be. it would be kick ass though because they're already fast with the 2.7L pulling 170hp..... imagine a 3.5L pullin probably around 230hp. Now you're talkin closer to the new 350Z almost, they run a 3.5L with right around 300hp (i think).

Someone probly took the XG350 3.5 DOHC 24V V6 and put it in a tiburon. The tranny of the tiburon is the same as the Santa Fe, due to this fact I already have seen a twin turbo all wheel drive tiburon. This is a car that you can make lots of aftermarket changes, the only downside is you void that nice long 10 year warranty if you do anything too extreme. This is the tiburon that was at the New York auto show this year. http://www.hyundaiusa.com/customs/images/customTiburonMIbig_1.jpg Modified by:

i don't know how much you know about hyundai but i'll ask.... a.) what about dropping the santa fe 3.5L in a tib, the santa fe runs better specs than the XG350.. and b.) do you know if it's possible to bore out and change the stroke on even the 2.7L tib GT V6? because im lookin to turn mine into one hell of a car, my aim is to be able to compete with high performance sports cars.

As far as switching engines and boring out / changing the stroke of the 2.7, yes I am sure both could be done with lots of time and money, but there are a lot cheaper and easier ways to make a tib faster. Nos is always the cheapest way, and if you need your car to get around day to day, I would start with smaller engine mods first (intake, exhaust, turbo, intercoolier,etc.).

i've already got all that lined up and am projecting around 400hp, maybe higher.... 550hp with a shot of nitrous..... but to get it there will be rather exspensive, with the turbo (or possibly twin turbo if it comes out soon) i was just wondering if there was a way to start off with more then the 170hp and 181lbs/in that the 2.7L is stock. I know i can already beat most ricers stock and almost all with a few mods, but like i said, i want to run with the big boys.

The 2 things you dont want to forget is first no matter how much crank power you are putting out you still have to get it to the ground, and second (most important if you change the engine) the aftermarket parts have to fit the engine, so if you get a new engine you will need to find parts that will fit that engine (thats why most people just mod the stock engine).

So far what I have found out about the 250HP Limit on our 2.7 blocks is that they are 4 bolt mains. The particular material that the engine is made of expands too much around 240HP and the point where the bottom end holds the 8 bolts in place will actually lose hold of the bolts and lose the crank. So far that is what I have found always being nosey though. Sure I will find out more.
