Mascherone in legno Ferrari 250 gto 1962

This is the start of a new project
After finding these images I got the idea of making a scale mask of the Ferrari 250 gto 1962
Questo è l'inizio di un nuovo progetto.
Dopo aver trovato in internet queste immagini mi è venuta l'idea di realizzare un mascherone in scala
della Ferrari 250 gto del 1962

having a maquette of the scale model available, I traced it in width and length with a felt-tip pen to be able to
obtain the various sections I needed
avendo a disposizione una maquette del modello in scala l'ho tracciato in larghezza e in lunghezza con un
pennarello per potere ricavare le varie sezioni che mi servivano

later with a profilometer I detected the sections a width
in seguito con un profilometro ho rilevato le sezioni in larghezza

and I reported them on the cardboard to verify their accuracy
e le ho riportate su del cartoncino per verificarne l'esattezza

the sections in width are overall 19 and fortunately in this case since the model is symmetrical it was not necessary to
completely detect the section but a little more than half to then symmetrize them later when they will be shown on the drawing 3d
le sezioni in larghezza sono complessivamente 19 e per fortuna in queso caso essendo il modello simmetrico non è
stato necessario rilevare completamente la sezione ma solo un po piu della meta per poi simmetrizzarle
quando poi verranno riportate sul disegno 3d

the sections have been numbered to facilitate final assembly
le sezioni sono state numerate per facilitarne il mongaggio finalle

I also used the same system for the length sections, profilometer and drawing of the
various sections. In this case I had to make 4 sections, the middle and the 3 right side sections since the
3 left are identical.
These sections were a bit more complicated because they were much longer
The front hood will be smntabile
Anche per le sezioni in lunghezza ho utilizzato lo stesso sistema, profilometro e disegno delle
varie sezioni. In questo caso ho dovuto fare 4 sezioni, la centrale e le 3 laterali dx in quanto le
3 sx sono identiche.
Queste sezioni sono state un po piu complicate perche erano molto piu lunghe

I obtained the top view of the front hood, the rear one, the front glass and the rear one
and the flap for accessibility to the radiator cap while from the side view I obtained the door,
the glass of the door, the 2 air vents on the front mudguard and the slit on the rear mudguard
ho ricavato la vista dall'alto del cofano anteriore, di quello posteriore, del vetro anteriore e di quello posteriore
e dello sportellino per l'accessibilita al tappo del radiatore mentre dalla vista laterale ho ricavato la porta,
il vetro della porta, i 2 sfoghi aria sul parafango anteriore e la feritoia sul parafango posteriore

the various views of the drawing found on the internet were then slightly modified because they were not exactly
correct ( for example, the curvature of the front hood ) All of these views were then scaled down
to the scale of the maquette from which I derived the sections
le varie viste del disegno trovato in internet sono state poi leggermente modificate perche non erano esattamente
corrette ( per esempio la curvatura del cofano anteriore ) Tutte queste viste sono poi state ridimensionate

for the assembly of the jig, I made a grid of the various sections to scale,
glued it onto a piece of plywood and then trimmed off unnecessary parts
per il montaggio del mascherone ho realizzato un reticolo delle varie sezioni in scala,
incollato su un pezzo di compensato multistrato e poi rifilato delle parti non necessarie

12 cubic pieces were then glued together to support the sections in length
sono stati poi incollati 12 pezzi cubici per sostenere le sezioni in lunghezza

Before cutting the various wooden pieces, I preferred to do a check by making
the various sections with cardboard, and that way I was able to check whether there were any
errors in the design
prima di tagliare i vari pezzi in legno ho preferito fare una verifica realizzando
le varie sezioni con del cartone e cosi sono riuscito a verificare se ci fossero
degli errori nella progettazione

To facilitate the construction of the dummy, I made using maquette
the 4 resin wheel arches that will be essential for me to make the 4
wheel wells on the fenders
per facilitare la costruzione del manichino ho realizzato utilizzando la maquette
i 4 passaruota in resina che mi saranno indispensabili per la realizzazione dei 4
vani giroruota sui parafanghi

happened to my hands the maquette automatically began the realization

after checking that there were no errors in the design with the cardboard simulation
now begins the work to cut all the pieces needed to make the mask.
To cut all the pieces needed I used this electric saw and used several sheets of walnut
African 2 mm thick

adesso incomincia la lavorazione per tagliare tutti i pezzi necessari per la realizzazione del mascherone.
per tagliare tutti i pezzi occorrenti ho usato questa sega elettrica e utilizzato vari fogli di noce
africano di spessore 2 mm

the scale of the mask is 1/16 and it is the same as the maquette because I used the copies of the wheel arches
to make the construction a little easier
la scala del mascherone è 1/16 ed è la stessa della maquette perche ho utilizzato le copie dei passaruota

these are the photos with the many pieces glued to the sections for ( the 4 wheel rotors on the fenders, front window
surrounds and rear, front and rear hoods, door glass compartments, and louvers on front and rear fenders ) which will later
will be adapted with abrasive to the profiles of the sections

the rear hood was not made detachable from the maquette but as a separate piece.
It consists of 7 sections,a support base and 12 other pieces that form the outer perimeter

the front end was molded from the maquette and painted
in the colors of GTO chassis number 3445. In my opinion the most beautiful
livery of all GTOs
