I played Magic a couple times, but thought it was boring... I was really into the Star Wars CCG, it was the shit.

SW:CCG owns Magic :)

How did they sell out?

Lots of my friends play it...one guy has over 1000 cards..the other over 4000...I don't want to try it because I'm afraid I'll get too into it and spend too much money on it.

Iv never played it ever! and I never want to.

Unforunatly mates at school used to play it a lot, and more than a few of my mates play it at the moment. One of them found a suitcase full of cards from when they played it in school, and its now sitting in the lounge, and gets pulled out a couple of times a week.
Then one night a week they play D&D and when thier not playing Magic they have get thier Mage Knights out.
There is literaly seveal thousand Dollars worth of these little resin monsters, books where ever second work is 2d6 or 4d10 and these little printed pieces of card concerned with mana scattered all around my house.
I even got my flatmate a 40L storage contianer to help clean it all up for his wedding present, but he can't even fit 2/3s of his mage knight collection in it.

LOL, Moppie. Yeah we play D&D once or twice a week...one of the people who plays has about 200+ pewter figurines which she has hand painted

Yes, there are Radom mechs also scattered around the house, and there was book of the old D&D style mechwarrior game somewhere.

I actualy got a call from a mate an hour or so ago, he was looking for my flatemate so they can have a gathering tonight.

toksin, ive been playing since "the dark" and collecting ever since. i have a good 8 years of playing and collecting i have nearly 10,000 cards, they take up too much damn room. and if you are worried about spending too much money on it, you will. anyhoo

WoTC sold out a couple of years ago.
rmember when they bought D&D, then changed a lot of the rules to make it easier for n00b's to get started. my friends where pissed to no extent because of that. or when wizards went around suing companies who used similar play techniques. do you know how many businnesses went under because of that, or how many good games that could have been never got a chance. or when they went copywrite crazy after the suing frenzy they went on. they made a game about WWII and actualy tried to copywright "nazi" and "third reicht". but most of all, they hindered game play too much. back in the day a good card rarely could make or break a deck, it was the strategy of the builder.
when i quit playing WoTC was making way too many ridiculously good cards. too many GOD cards = too little strategy.

(p.s. SW's ccg sucks ass.)

I play Magic, but I play a version called Awsome. It's basically just Magic but you can only play with a starter deck, and each game you have to bet one card, and if you lose, you have to sign it and give it to the other player. Way cheaper and way more fun than regular Magic.

Actually, I prefer 3rd Edition D&D to the previous ones, much more fucking straight forward and logical. Plus the open game licence makes things a lot easier for people who want to write their own games. We play normal D&D, Dragonstar (futuristic), plus the DM is ordering a Babylon 5 one (heheh) and one called Big Eyes Small Mouth, which is anime, along with D20 Mecha (giant 50 foot robots).

So yeah,it's fun :p

Rhys: Sort of right on the money. Only Mike, the other guys you don't know.

The fact that I even play one sport, don't list Star Trek as a favourite TV show and have a significant other rules me out of the Magic players catagorey

:loser: But I know plenty of people who once played it- and remember when magic was a big craze:redface:
