R34 project

Thinking about running a R34 GT, change the drive train over to a Supercharged, N2O 351W, stroked out to 393, and 6 Speed. Engine combo should put out 800hp, and 800lbs of torque. Change out the rear, and install a Ford 9" Nodular. I have most of the drive line parts in my garage.
We when its all said and done, I would have about $20k into it and it should run about a 9 sec 1/4. Just have to make it fit.
What do you think?

:eek7: :eek7: The body on the stang going rusty?
It sounds to me like your doing it all backwards.
Taking whats good about the skyline, (the drive line) and replacing with everything thats bad about the mustang (its old technology) shouldn't you be taking all thats good about the stang (its looks, style and class (ok, its not European, but it can still have class)) and replace all thats bad about it, with all thats good about the Skyline?
Oh hell, how about a Twin Turbo Lexus V8 driving the GTR's AWD in a Mustang body :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

I am not about to do it to a GTR, plus with a solid rear axle its better suited for the 1/4 mile.
Old Tech, or New tech. Its still an air pump. If I can get a reliable 800hp out of a whole car, for the same price a good tranny cost for a GTR, why not.
My Stang has a 302, not a stroked 351W:wink:

Like a lot guys around here, I have to try to do the best I can with the knowledge I have, and on a limited budget.
A TT Lexus V8 would not be able to come close to the power output of a stroked 351W for the money. I would have a total of 7k into the engine, I would like to see you that amount of power with a TT Lexus V8 for that price. Plus if it breaks, its way cheaper to rebuild.
Its all about the Dead Presidents:wink:

But Im curious as to why you would want to put all of that Ford engine and driveline into a Skyline bodyshell?
Surly something old and American with a bit of torsional regidity would be better?

I had a R34 lined up, but I just found out it was sold. Now it looks like I might try it with a R32 GTS. Hell, its lighter:bigthumb:

Me and some friends have been throwing around that idea too. I have an old stripped race 32gtr sitting in japan. A friend was thinking of importing it and putting his tt sbc drivetrain into it. He has alot of syclone parts so we were going to try and still make it 4wd.

Well that is just it. For the 1/4 mile the awd really is not that benificial. There is a point where its just not practical, for the amount of work, and part breakage.
I have a 69block with a fresh bore 30 over. I have some TWisted Wedge heads as well, with a 3.50 Ford 9" nodular just setting in my garage not doing a damn thing, but collecting dust. I even have an extra N2O system as well.
I do like your idea though
A TT SBC would be way cool. Your sump is in the back, right? Will that be a problem?

My plan for it was to use it as a backhalved car with the rb26 hooked to a glide. It is one of those backburner projects though. The other guy has deep pockets and is always doing projects. He just loves awd cars. This would just be a street car for him.

Ah, gotcha.
AWD for the street is very hard to beat.

Mate the R32 GTS-t is lighter to start with. Stipped down with a carbon fibre or GTR bonnet you could get it on or below 1000 kgs.

dude do it with an old skyline , why ruin a perfectly good r34 with ripping out its internals, use the r32 gts dont ruin a good skyline , by upgrading the twin turbos on skyline u can have 800hp too its called HKS TWINS  you would need to replace engine internals to have 800 hp and most of the drivetrain beefeed up and you can make the r34 rwd , ive seen it done so you can just do that, if you want ford parts just get a mustang and superchare that

you probably didn't see the post that he said he is not doing it to a r34 no more because it was sold. He is thinking about doing it to his R32 GTS now. And he allready has a stang that's why he probably got those extra parts in his garage I would say.

Hey, better idea!
Since your in the UK, and should have access to an ample supply of old British relics why not use one of those instead?
Its clearly not going to be a road legal car, so why not cut up and old 2500TC triumph? or P6 Rover? or even better an SD1 which already has the room for a large V8, and a live axle which makes installing your 9inch that much easier.
The 2500TC is as light as an R32, but a LOT stiffer, and there are already conversion kits out there for small block Chev V8s, it should be hard to convert the mounts to suit the ford.
Theres also a very large transmission tunnel, and lots of room in the back for cutting and welding to make room for the diff.
Not to mention the gas tank is behind he seat, so no worries about cutting up and relocating the Skyline one.
And quite simply the are so much better looking than the rather bland japanese skyline, the Triumph may be made in the UK, but it was designed by an Itialian.
And of course if its really light weight that you want you can't beat a TR7.

As Luis said, I have a lot of extra Ford parts.
As for why a Skyline, its being driven by a higher source than me. My wife wants it done:bigthumb:
Moppie, good point. It will come down to cost.

SkylineUSA, you know how I feel about this (the same way as Moppie).
Get the R34! Even it is sold, you can still get decent models. An R34 is better than some old muscle (new 'Vettes are OK). R34 GT-R = tech, tuneability, great handling etc. You can have everything you want from your muscle in your R34 GT-R.
I feel robbed, SkylineUSA  You have betrayed your likeminded UK friends like me, to satisfy the Americans! I wanna shoot you!
I can't quote from edit, but you said your wife wants it done?! If my wife wanted something done to my car that I don't like/need/want, then I'd say no! :biggrin2:
If this is what your plans are, you should have never brought an R32 GT-R.

LSR,
You can buy it off of me, and you can bring it back to its former glory. Oh ya, there is a butt load of rust as well as all the other problems I mentioned in the other post. I hope you have deep pockets :thefinger
I already have a GTR that will be staying true to its racing heritage. This is my personal challenge.
I think outside the box, sorry. Hell, tofstchvy might do the same thing. Its a lot cheaper for us. If money was no object, yes I would have it put back to stock, but money is an issue. :frown:
