Hi guys,
I have a 2016 Dodge Hemi pick-up.
Truck has about 100000 Km and while driving
at about 40 mph the engine surged to about 3000 rpm.
I slowed down right away to bring down the engine speed.
Accelerating again the transmission won't shift. So I drove it at about 15 mph
(a little over 2000 rpm)
back home. My scan tool shows a fault code P0733 (Gear 3 incorrect Ratio).
Is this a common issue? Is it user serviceable?
Thanks

Basically P0733 says that the PCM saw a higher than normal RPM in 3rd. It could be that the trans is slipping.
Common problems that trigger the P0733 code would be defective 3rd gear shift solenoid, defective 3rd gear related gear set or clutch pack, defective engine coolant temperature sensor, defective valve body, or dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages.
