Just wondering...

It seems like all the time I read these stories on this forum that sound something like, "I was at a stoplight when this dude revved his engine at me and when the light turned green we were off..blah blah blah...I beat him by like 3 car lengths..blah blah blah"
Does this sort of shit actually happen, or are all of these people full of it? Reason I ask is because it seems like everywhere I drive on a daily basis is not even close to being suited for streetracing, and I imagine its the same case with most everyone else. I mean streetracing on a street at night with no one around is one thing, but in a somewhat crowded area in the middle of the day in a normal urban/suburban/residential area, it just seems really stupid. I dunno, maybe Im just being a pussy or something, but it just seems like the chance that you will crash, hit someone, or get caught by the police seems wayyy to great just to prove someone in a V6 stang that your Honda can smoke his ass.
What are your guys' opinions on this sort of stuff?

where i live there is a 4 lane road with a 30 ft grass median that runs about 20+ miles, with few trees. Its perfect for spotting cops before they spot you.

Honestly, I've done that before... it's uncommon yes, depends where you live, I know my town really well and there are some places that during the day you can PROBABLY get by with doing that... there is a risk yes, but that's why it's fun :bigthumb:

In my area there are some places at night around 12am or later where people could get away with racing pretty easily. There are several two to four lane long, straight city streets around here.

Im not really talking about semi-organized racing, where people meet up just to race and stuff, Im talking more about spontaneous spur of the moment type of stuff, like where your stopped at a stoplight just somewhere around town, and some dude pulls up next to you and hits you up for a race.

yeah there are like some streets are notorious for racing and if your driving you expect to get revved on.
