8 speed transmission question

I have been reading that some of the 2018 and 2019 RAV 4 owners have been complaining that the new 8 speed tranny they started using in the 18 and newer models leaves much to be desired. Some owners report descriptions of the 8 speeds being jerky. Some have said as the car slows to a near stop the tranny lurches forward at the last second. Some report the tranny always seems to be searching and not quite what gear it wants to be in.
My father's 2014 Avalon has an 8 speed tranny in it and it seems to function beautifully. I'm wondering....is the 8 speed in the Avalon the same 8 speed they are putting in the 2018 and 19 RAV4's ?
I am looking for a RAV and have been avoiding the 18 and 19's because of these reports.
Has anyone else out there heard of these problems with the 18 & 19 RAV4's?
Thanks,
Harkauto

The Avalon almost certainly has a different transmission than the RAV4 owing to its different engine. It is likely that there is little internal differences since Toyota would not totally redesign a transmission just to mount it in a different engine and vehicle. Google this problem and see if there are more than just a few. Remember that some people just don't know how to maintain a vehicle. FWIW
