Sound system noise help

on my 2008 pathfinder with the bose system. When i turn the key on (not to crank it) the speaker make a loud popping or thumping noise. If you are not expecting it, it will scare the crap out of you. I've done a little research and from what i read, it might be that the amp is being shorted some where. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions. Also read that this could drain your battery when the car is off. Thanks for any help in advance.


One thing i should mention is a few months ago, I have the clock spring in the steering wheel replaced. not sure if that has anything to do with it.
