I have tried contacting the company that I bought it from but their website has no phone number and they won't return my emails. Hey man, your mechanic is on crack... I was pretty sure they were a universal fit, so I went and checked their site and veiwed the application chart.
I have attached the link, so click on it and veiw for yourself. I also included the part numbers in this message. Now I could be wrong, but the part numbers are the same according to their website..
And as far as contacting the company, you must have called the wrong people, cause I call them quite a bit and they always answer my calls, return my messages and further more when I have a question they are very helpful and honest.
I say find a new mechanic or follow the simple How-To instructions that were sent to you with the product.
Furthermore I suggest that you do some research before you buy stuff.
Will a fuel rail make you go faster?
I bet it looks pretty though huh, makes any car look fast...
I don't mean to patronize you, but seriously dude if you can't figure out something as simple as this, you obviously need to do some homework.
Use these forums to your advantage, ask questions, people won't beat up on your for asking questions, what they will beat up on your for; is being ignorant. We all have to start somewhere..
Bottom line that fuel rail should work just fine. It probably won't make you go any faster at the moment, but once you get the rest of the goodies you will be ready..
Good luck in your endeavor, now get out in the garage and put that fucking thing on..

Oh and about the website not having contact information, you need to search a little harder next time.. Look for the word "contact" that usually gives you a way to contact them.
I made it easy for ya, click the link below and you will have AEM's contact page..

Well now were classing education levels, mmm High School Diploma and 4 college degrees later I still believe that I'm not the smartest guy around. So thank you for re-iterating that for me.. Helps out a lot.. I have a 97 Accord EX 2.2L as well.... Fuel rail works... Oh yea and its a VTEC, but I guess seeing that it is an EX, we would assume that it was VTEC.. Right, thanks for spelling that out. There is no difference between the EX, LX, DX as far as a fuel rail is concerned.. They are the same.... Call AEM and see what they tell ya bud!! As far as where you got it from, well I have been in the game for a while now, and I have seen many business's that sell shit and they had no clue what they were selling. They sold it cause it was a popular item.. So don't always take a middle mans word, they are trying to make money.. Call AEM, why would they lie to you? Hell most manufacturers don't sell directly to the consumer anyway, so they have no reason to try and beat your wallet up..
Common sense will prevail one day, I have hope, but wait; hope is not a contigency plan!! Next time before you try and spit some lathargic cheese in my face; do your homework man!
