The reason this R34 is gold, is because the car he's building a replica of is gold. Case closed. BTW, Hiro, I've got some reference pics of the car if you need them.

OK the update is I'm getting p*ssed off trying to get carbon on the bonnet without a rip or tear, i've now done it 3 times and everytime it looks crap, so off it comes, and I put it back on the shelf for a week or two. Maybe i'll just leave the bonnet and trunk (boot) matt black. :banghead:

I like the matt black look. That would be cool.
Besides I haven't seen carbon fiber decals that look real anyway.

i have terrible trouble getting carbon to go over a large area, wrinkles, tears, misalignment. no fun at all.
wish someone would make a thicker carbon decal that had a bit more strength, a bit like the tamiya carbon decals that go on the exhausts.

i still dont see why tamiya dont make a carbon decal set.

btw hiroboy, this kit is looking sooooo sweet, i am loving it more and more each time i see it

No Rush.... :) I'm sorting out the Decals slowly and the Mirrors
The Interior will be black.

I hate fiber carbon decals... always wrinkles and sometime don't look right at all... I'm a pretty lazy person and I prefere the easy way... airbrush, Tamiya mesh and 5 minutes to do it right... like my RX-7 hood:

PS: the little black thing in the front is a miror reflect of my camera... the hood is 98% perfect. And looks real.


PPS: sorry, I turned the image a bit and now, the lines are looking TETRIX a bit... round have edge when you turn it you know !?!

You will see one from me later this year. Work started on it about the same time Steve did his. Progress hasn't gotten very far to be honest, i wasn't pleased with how the front was turning out so put it aside to concentrate on other things. Work has resumed though but no ETA on release date.

Steve, knowing you from other parts of life, I have to ask....is there anything you do without being awesome at it?

Since AF was down for a few days, I have been working on all the decals (phew) and applied most tonight, so I will post some photos tomorrow.
As it's back on the table I might finish it now.

Here is the latest update to the Skyline, got the decals on now, so bodywork is 99% done, time to start on the inside and chassis.

Steve, did you use cf or just black paint for the cf treatments? I remember you saying that the cf wasnt conforming corectly to the hood.

That's what I'm talking about! Decals look stunning!! The bonnet and rear boot turned out really good also. I really need to buy an Alps printer ASAP!

It's only sitting on the wheels, as yet not fitted to the chassis, so they roll about a bit

Geez. I hate you, you show off. :) joking joking. Well, all of your works are defnitely inspiring. It sucks however when I don't have much time or skill to work on a model and make one as well as you. Keep building, your stuff is amazing.

The decals are designed by myself in Adobe Illustrator and printed out on Wave Decal paper using an Alps MD4000 printer.

Looks great with decals in place.

Yes it does, that was the main reason in getting it. Also Silver, Gold, Metallic Red and Metallic Blue.
