I've noticed there is no love for the cars used in NASCAR, so here is a chance to show off your stock cars. :dogpile:

Honestly this forum leans more towards JGTC, rally racing, and Le Mans/nurburgring. It has been a long time; too long to remember actually, since I've seen a nascar car on here. Maybe this thread will bring them out from lurking.
You can find a lot more on BMC and HH forums.

NASCAR, the most boring and primitive of all race cars. Every body shape is identical. They have nothing in common with the cars they represent(what street car still uses carberators?)In otherwords NASCAR sucks! IMHO

And that's all!?...
I was wondering about getting a Nascar kit (even if they're at 1/25, and I would have prefered 1/24...), and searching on AF some models that would have inspired me...
I'm sure there's more Nascar lovers than this!!!! Where are you????

I love NASCAR racing, the cars and the people. It's a great American family sport. I have a couple kits on the shelf that I will be doing in the future.
And if NASCAR sucks so much, why is it the largest viewing sport in the world? Yes, bigger than soccer, baseball and football. And why do so many open wheel racers want to get a ride in one? Matter of fact, most of NASCAR drivers came from other schools of racing. There are not too many left that came from NASCAR families.
And it's pretty obivious that most of AF is into 'anything' other than American. But, that's where 'guys like me' come in.
I myself love looking at the builds here. All of them. I don't care if it's a Russian Tank or a ricer with a coffee can exhaust. I don't think anyone will ever see me post 'I hate it' in a thread. Life is too short to hate anything, including models, car types or the weather.
One of the major attractions to AF for me, was reading so many positive posts. Guys that never built an American car would reply "Awesome build!" AF reminded me of racing my phatass Crown Vic at the drags. Lots of the Ricer Boys would come over, make me pop my hood and tell them about my ride, all of them saying how cool it was. Even though every, single one of them could whoop my 4200# (1909 kgs) ass in the quarter. I'm for 'less hate' in this world.

Can you back that up with some figures, I just find it very hard to believe. I could believe it has the largest viewing in America, but I don't think the whole world.
I have reserved opinions on Nascar, some days it sucks and some days it's interesting, depends on which raceway really.

No, I don't have the stats to 'prove' it but I have heard it discussed on the telly more than once. Consider that a NASCAR track holds way more than your average stadium, that they get WAY more viewers on ANY given Sunday than ANY football game and the season lasts about 10 months...it's not too hard to fathom. Granted, I heard this about 10 years ago but I still think it holds true.
I agree with more interesting raceways. I mean, I HAVE fallen asleep watching some races (I'm old) but I don't think I've ever nodded out watching a race at, say...Bristol. :)
Still, to me, I look forward to Sundays and really really miss racing the couple months that NASCAR sleeps.

I guarantee for a world wide audience F1 is far bigger. The money spent in F1 far exceeds what is spent in NASCAR because F1 and Lemans are for more important to automakers and their enthusiast around the world. Allot of NASCAR fans are more interested in personalities than in the cars, because the cars are boring and uninspiring cars. The average passenger vehicle today is far more advanced. Is it really that much fun for the drivers running in huge packs with huge pile-ups, I think not. NASCAR has been called the WWF on wheels for good reason. If we had to rely on NASCAR for automotive development we would be 30 yrs behind where we are today. If I were a rich man I would like to send a few NASCAR fans to LeMans and have a seat along the Mulsanne staight and tell me how boring a Bentley or an Audi is. Yes fans I am sorry to say it but I have said it before and I say it again NASCAR really does suck and so do the models.

I have to agree......NASCAR is not what it was 25 or 30 years ago. I heard on the radio the other day that it was 2nd in viewership in the US behind the NFL . I do not necessarily believe that the models suck...I can appreciate any well done model, but the kits ae just like the real thing, same chassis different markings. I live the NASCAR south I know how popular it is, but I have to say it..........real NASCAR sucks!

If you love NASCAR that is great, that should be enough for you in itself. Unfortunately you are mistaken in saying it is the largest viewing sport in the world. Beside what would that prove? Look at the music charts, movies or TV. Crap sells, so who would want to follow anything popular? I've heard F1 is the most watched sport in the world, besides the Soccer World Cup and the Olympics, which only happen every four years anyway. So I guess modern F1 must be crap then - no argument here.
As for your second pont why do ex-Indy and CART drivers seek out NASCAR rides? In most cases it's the same reason ex-F1 racers are flocking to the DTM, i.e. they'd rather be in open wheelers but open wheelers don't want them anymore.
Bottom line is NASCAR is a control formula where the most important figure to all involved is the amount of cash rolling in the door. That is also okay in itself. Trouble is the greedy, modern day 'CEO' types in control of most other motorsport series are using NASCAR as a template to destroy every form of racing on the planet. I feel that is why it is so hated, by pure (up ourselves if you must) racing fans.

I personally like F1 alot more over NASCAR. NASCAR maybe action packed with crashes. But their cars are very much behind in technology like many have stated and they just go in a circle. NASCAR is not that challenging to a driver. Only four turns to remember and thats it. In F1 a driiver must remember alot of turns. Which makes it more of a challenge. Also I personally think watching or seeing a F1 drive is phenominal. 19,300 rpms is just amazing. F1 is way better than NASCAR.

Well... I'm not sure this thread was made for discussing about "Nascar: like it or not..." :eek7:
I'm not a Nascar lover. I'm European, for me it basicaly means nearly nothing... I'm an F1 fan and Rallye fan, and DTM, BTCC, JGTC, etc*... (*:lol!) :smokin:
I find interesting everything that races on earth. :iceslolan
And I find Nascar's cars quite impressive and colorfull...
And I find the Nascar kits quite well done and detailed, very attractive, even for a non-Nascar-lover!... :icon16:
Thats why I was surprised by the poor quantity (but not quality! Nicely done, guys!) of Nascar cars here on Af... :sly:
I only thought Richard Petty had more modelers fans than that!... (lol too!) :loser:
