Great news. I'm quite excited as well. 2019 is shaping up to be a great year for
modelers of GT racers. New kits from NuNu and now Tamiya. May be others will
join too. Really happy to see LeMans winning car after about a decade since R10
was release by Revell.
Now only 2 questions:
- does Tamiya have access to engine details and would it be full detail kit
- should I build LeMans winner or WEC champion or both

- Revell Ford GT
- NuNu 911 RSR
- NuNu R8 LMS
- Tamiya TS050
May be BeeMax will decide to do a GT3 or LeMans racer as well.

I thought someone was doing a recent 911 Porsche GT3, but I'm not sure we're talking about the same car either.

I remember when Tamiya were top of their game and releases came thick and fast in all scales and all types. Now this release causes an immense fuss, because it's the first release for years. They should get back to the way they were and start doing some regular new stuff..!!!

That is great news indeed!
I just feel a bit let down by the fact that this kit comes a bit too late when the Audi and Porsche opposition has left.
Would have been great to have a Tamiya lineup from 2016 instead.
Now I set my hopes for Tamiya releases of the next generation DTM cars :naughty:

I think it's been a long while since Tamiya released any kit of DTM cars. I would think Revel is more likely to do it again.
Their BMW and Mercedes DTM cars from 2009 were great kits.

Their BMW and Mercedes DTM cars from 2009 were great kits.
With Super GT and the DTM having a common rule set from 2020 and the compliant DTM cars being launched already in 2019 I hope for Tamiya.
They have been releasing Super GT race cars lately.
Both German manufacturers, Audi and BMW, have stated that they might take their cars to race in Japan, which increases the likelihood for a kit.
The Revell kits of the Audi, BMW and Mercedes were OK, but in my opinion not at the level of the Tamiya kits of the Alfa, Mercedes and Opel made back in the 1990ies.
We will see what the future brings.

911 RSR and GT3R also, IIRC ?
I've heard/read somewhere that Nunu/Platz IS Beemax (or at least their "Modern GT" branch). At the exception of their first release, the WTCC Cruze, Beemax only concentrates on vintage cars. Which is a very good thing btw.

Seems nowadays they all just want to announce... announce.
About Porsche’s they show 3d mole up nearly one year ago of the 991 gt3r, while 2019 newest car is deeply different in body already and until
Today nothing arrived on the market.
I think is risky to promise stuff so early, even more if they must be made in injection plastic.
Note all rules for modern gt changed in 2019. I’ve seen it with my nsx, the car racing now in Daytona is slightly different from my model.

I assume that manufacturers announce to avoid the risk of having 2 or more identical cars on the market. A too small market nowadays.

Because they are arguably the 2 biggest brands on the market and don't care about the others. Beemax and Belkits, for instance, are nothing compared to them.
Anyhow, the least comfortable position is in my opinion the one of small resin casters like P24 and so on : a good amount of their favourite subjects are now taken into account by injected plastic companies.

for sure not in quality. David vs goliath....
Despite the subject, the last tamiya models raise the real perfection in scale.

New entry in Tamiya blog surfaced today - https://tamiyablog.com/2019/01/some-future-tamiya-static-items-to-be-presented-at-upcoming-nuremberg-toy-fair-2019/
I guess it makes it as official as it can be. And we will have more details by the beginning of Feb.
Oh, so excited. Really hope it sells well and others will follow with other LMP1/LMP2 kits.

Would love to see a Dakar car. It's been a lonng time since the Tamiya Pajero.
This LeMans car is a welcome return to race cars.

I'm already studying the differences to bckdate it as nakajima car from 2016.
Thats the strongest image of recent le mans races imho.
THE DRAMA. Think in such moment the entire world was supporting Toyota.

I can't wait! It has been so long since we've had a new kit of a Le Mans prototype. Seemed only natural that Tamiya would do it but I've thought that about a lot of subjects. Looks like they've done a super job, glad they went with full detail version.

Unfortunately it won't have an engine. Just the gearbox. There are no turbo parts, exhausts, radiators, or any other engine or engine bay parts on any of the sprues. It will go together very similarly to the SF70H. Regardless I'm still going to pre-order it. Can't wait!
