Programming new tpms sensors

I have a set of winter tires mounted on rims and I bought a set of OEM GM sensors for these wheels that I want to install. My factory aluminum wheels already have sensors and I want the same monitoring ability with my winter setup. Will I have to have these new sensors programmed to the truck or can I do it myself by using the relearn method as if I had rotated the tires?

Yes, that should work.

I would not do it .. snow tires and rims for winter NO programing ..
could cause problems when you put on the other tires wheels back on..

good to use steel rims for winter so the very expensive alloy wheels will not get damaged esp up in your area...also I have had these expensive sensors corrode ,,

I get what your saying jcat but the issue I had/have is that when I use my remote start in the winter it will only work for one cycle (10 minutes) and to be honest I use it more than once, but after the first start the warning light comes on and the remote start wont work the second time.I get that programming one set of tpms sensors to a vehicle will probably be over ridden if another set gets programmed but as long as the cost to do so isn't extravagant then I would likely lean towards putting the other set in my winter wheels.

Doing the relearn process worked for the winter tires,we'll see how things go when I put the aluminum rims back on this spring.

Its absolutely not a problem. He will just have to do the relearn again when he puts his non winter wheels on.

For my Lancer I had to clone my OEM sensors for my winter wheels. This was due to the dealership only reset procedure. If I had just bought OEM sensors and installed them in the second set of wheels I would have had to make a dealership visit every time I swapped wheels. Now when I swap wheels the car doesn't know the difference.

If I had the same option and ease of programming as GM has I would have saved the additional $140 that I spent on the programmer and just done it the way the OP wants to do.
