Restored 25R Debuted, F1 Certification Program Announced

During some casual browsing, a Road & Track headline stating "McLaren F1 GTR #25R Restored" popped up in my search results. Apparently MSO has been busy the last 18 months doing a ground-up rebuild. The debut of the finished car also coincided with the announcement of something called 'F1 Certified', of which 25R is the first to be approved. This paragraph from McLaren's press release summarizes things well:

"...the F1 Certified programme has been developed to guarantee the authenticity of both road and track versions of the Le Mans-winning supercar, offering ultimate peace of mind for current and future owners. A unique Certificate of Authenticity – which McLaren Automotive is the only body in the world able to issue – authenticates a car’s provenance, originality, service life, road/race history and condition. Conformity with the original specification and to any McLaren-sanctioned upgrades is confirmed by reference to the factory archives.

Along with the certificate, owners receive a bespoke illustrated book documenting the history of their car."

The entire press release can be found here:Official McLaren F1 certification service announced... (https://www.cars.mclaren.press/en-us/releases/610)

Sounds like the Ferrari Classiche money grab, which makes no sense to me. The factory restoration aspect is what's more important and a good thing to have for these cars.

Having seen the progress of #25R, its a really really good example of how to do a fantastic paint job.

If this somehow leads to more cars going back to original spec then I'd be happy.

Did anyone else spot 07R in Kidston's latest instagram video? :)

Here are some some screenshots which 'appear' to show #07R in its original livery

Next is #08R

It would be cool to see it in its West livery in my opinion - forgetting about originality

LOL look at that laptop sitting on the rear quarter of 25R. Does the original laptop still need to be used? Can't they make some kind of emulator to run on a modern system and have a cable to match whatever pins the old stuff used?

Also nice to see 7R back in original livery. I never liked any of those LM-look GTRs...

Great catch! I concur with everyone else - great to see another GTR returned to it's original livery.

On another note, any indication of which car is the left of the second shot?

What about 08R and 14R? Are those not in papaya anymore? I vaguely recall someone saying 08R was back in Gulf colors, but I've been out of the loop for a while.

I understood 08R had been re-liveried and totally forgotten about 14R

I can't describe how happy I am to see 07R back in its Jacadi livery.

Come on 11R, back to Franck Mueller please.

Would love to see how 08R looks back in Gulf colours.

Get them all back to something like originality and celebrate the liveries.

I don't believe 08R has been redone. If anyone knows differently, it would be nice to have confirmation and I too would love to see it.

#08R is still in papaya, have 100% certainty on that
FYI - #07R is painted and not by MSO / Lanzantes, its not wrapped
