tow/haul not working

2002 sierra sle 5.3
The tow/haul light was not coming on, so i did the harness repair under the steering column and now the light comes on when the switch is pressed, but when i turn on the tow/haul mode I do not see any change in transmission shift patterns, etc with or without a load either one. Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and where I should start looking. I do pull a 21' trailer on occasion and would like it to be working. Thanks.
